Queensland Police declare emergency after finding ‘suspicious device’ on Peregian Beach

Queensland police made an emergency statement after the discovery of a “suspicious device” at Peregian Beach.

The declaration was made at 12.30.

In the Sunshine Coast area, there is an exclusion zone for the beach, about two hours north of Brisbane.

The region includes David Low Way from the Potargus Pass Ceremony to Woodland Drive and Martin St, Avocet ST, Peregian ESP, Parquet Cres, Egrer St, Teal St, Currawong Cres, Osprey Ave, Tern St, Garnet ST, Pelican St and Ribs Drive.

The expert police are now advised to stay indoors at the scene and unless the residents are notified by the police.

It is recommended that the members of the public avoid the region.
