Pep Guardiola: Man City boss ‘hurt’ by images of child victims of conflict zones

On Monday, BBC News reported that a total of 933 migrants crossed the Channel on small boats in January, according to figures from the Home Office.

Guardiola said: “People who have to do this, they flee their country, they go into the sea and then they get on the boat to be rescued; don’t ask whether he’s right or wrong, save him. It’s about a person.”

“We can criticize after we agree, but everyone is right, everyone has an opinion and you have to express it. People are dying, you have to help them. The only thing we have is to protect people and human life.”

Last month, two US citizens were shot and killed by federal agents carrying out US President Donald Trump’s crackdown on immigrants in Minneapolis last month.

Fan group Football Fans of Europe (FSE) said it was “extremely concerned about the ongoing militarization of law enforcement in the United States” ahead of this summer’s World Cup in North America.

Guardiola added: “I’m sorry it hurts when I see the images. That’s why in every position I can help raise my voice to be a better society, I will try and I will be there always. This is for my children, for my families, for you.”

“Justice on my part? You have to talk. Otherwise everything will be fine. Look what happened in the United States, Renee Good and Alex Pretti were murdered. Tell me how can you defend this?”

“There is no perfect society, no place is perfect, I am not perfect, we must work to be better.”
