Quebec | A man died following a fire in the Saint-Sauveur district

A fire that occurred on Saturday in an apartment building on Saint-Mathias Street in the Saint-Sauveur district of Quebec left one person dead.

Authorities were called to the scene late Saturday and confirmed the fire.
During the evacuation, a person was found unconscious, indicates the spokesperson for the Quebec City Police Service (SPVQ). Resuscitation maneuvers were carried out on the individual who was subsequently taken care of by the ambulance services.
The victim was pronounced dead upon arrival at the hospital.
At 7:40 p.m. Saturday, the fire was declared under control by authorities.
A security perimeter has been set up around the apartment building. Investigators from the Quebec City Police Department and the forensic identification unit, in association with the Fire Commissioner, are on site to investigate and understand the circumstances surrounding the fire.
