The names of the five young people who died in a traffic accident involving two vehicles in Ireland were determined by the police.
The fatal collision happened on L3168 in Gibstown, Co Louth, shortly after 9pm last night.
The tragic teenagers who died are named Chloe McGee, 23, and Shay Duffy, 21, from Carrickmacross; Alan McCluskey, 23, and Dillon Commins, 23, both from Drumconrath, and Chloe Hipson, 21, from Lanarkshire, Scotland.
Five young adults were in the Volkswagen Golf that collided with a Toyota Landcruiser near Dundalk last night.
Irish police said they were believed to be heading to Dundalk to spend the night.
The sixth person in the vehicle, a man in his 20s, is being treated in hospital for non-life-threatening injuries.
Ireland’s deputy prime minister, Simon Harris, said a ‘curtain of deep sadness’ had fallen over the country, while Irish police described the incident as ‘shocking and devastating’.
Three young men and two women tragically died at the scene of the accident.
Chloe Hipson, 21, from Lanarkshire, Scotland, died in the fatal collision.
Chloe McGee, 23, from Carrickmacross, also died in the two-vehicle crash.
Alan McCluskey, 23, from Drumconrath, was one of three teenagers killed in the crash
Shay Duffy, 21, from Carrickmacross, also died in last night’s tragedy.
Dillon Commins, 23, from Drumconrath, died in the fatal incident yesterday.
Irish police are at the scene where three men and two women in their 20s died following a road crash on the L3168 just outside Dundalk, Co Louth.
A man and woman in the other vehicle were taken to Our Lady of Lourdes Hospital in Drogheda for treatment.
Speaking near the scene on Sunday, Superintendent Charlie Armstrong said: ‘Just after 9pm yesterday evening, there was a serious road traffic accident involving two vehicles, a Volkswagen Golf and a Toyota Landcruiser.
‘The five passengers of the Volkswagen Golf, three men and two women, all in their early 20s, died at the scene.’
He said family liaison officers had been assigned to each of the families and gardaĆ would keep them updated.
Mr Armstrong said: ‘I would like to extend my condolences to the families of the five young adults killed in this road accident last night and the condolences of all members of An Garda Siochana.
‘Last night members of An Garda Siochana launched a major incident response supported by Dundalk Fire Brigade, HSE paramedics and other emergency services including staff at Our Lady of Lourdes Hospital in Drogheda.
‘The scene at L3168 here in Gibstown remains closed today and a technical and forensic examination is being carried out by An Garda Siochana forensic collision investigators.’
One vehicle was removed by a recovery truck from the scene just outside Dundalk, County Louth.

He said autopsy examinations would be carried out.
Mr Armstrong added: ‘I would like to thank and express my gratitude to my colleagues at An Garda Siochana and other emergency services who attended the scene last night.
‘The incident was very difficult in adverse weather conditions and the professionalism shown by all first responders and the care and respect shown to the five deceased were exemplary.
‘This tragedy, resulting in the loss of five young adults, will have a profound impact on families and local communities in Carrickmacross, Dromconrath and across Scotland.
‘This is a shocking, devastating incident for these families, their community and the community in Dundalk.
‘I would like to take this opportunity for anyone with information about this road traffic crash to contact the investigation team at Dundalk Garda Station.
‘I am appealing for anyone who was at L3168 between 8.30pm and 9.15pm on Saturday night, 15 November 2025, to contact the Garda investigation team.

Tanaiste Mr Harris said: ‘A pall of deep sadness and shock has fallen over our country this morning with the news of the devastating deaths of five young people overnight in a road accident in County Louth.
‘My thoughts this morning, and I know the thoughts of people up and down our country, are with the families, friends and communities of those who have lost loved ones.
‘We keep them in our prayers and thoughts now and into the future.
‘I would also like to pay my respects to the emergency services.
‘You cannot imagine the extraordinarily difficult and tragic circumstances they found themselves in last night as they tried to help in the most harrowing of situations.’
