PM Hails Indigenous Defence, Aviation Milestones in Mann Ki Baat

New Delhi: Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Sunday lauded India’s achievements in security and self-reliance, highlighting the first successful flight of the first Indian-made C-295 military transport aircraft and the successful test of the indigenous Long Range Land Attack Cruise Missile (LRLACM).
He addresses the nation in his monthly program Mann Ki Baat Participating in the program, the Prime Minister said that the achievements achieved in June made every Indian proud and strengthened the country’s journey towards self-reliance.
Prime Minister Modi also touched upon the induction of INS Dunagiri, INS Sanshodhak and INS Agray into the Indian Navy earlier this month, stating that the ships were completely designed and built in India.
Highlighting progress in the aviation sector, he said the made-in-India C-295 aircraft had successfully completed its maiden flight. He added that 40 such aircraft have been manufactured in India, providing support to MSME and aviation sectors, creating employment and strengthening the vision of Atmanirbhar Bharat.
The Prime Minister also praised the Defense Research and Development Organization (DRDO) for successfully testing the indigenous Long Range Land Attack Cruise Missile jointly developed by DRDO laboratories and Indian industry partners.
DRDO conducted the successful flight test of the missile on June 15 from Dr APJ Abdul Kalam Island off the Odisha coast. According to the organization, all mission objectives were achieved based on data recorded by monitoring systems deployed by the Integrated Test Range in Chandipur.
LRLACM has been developed locally with contributions from multiple DRDO laboratories and Indian industry partners. While the Aviation Development Establishment in Bengaluru served as the nodal laboratory, senior DRDO officials and representatives of the Indian Navy and Indian Air Force witnessed the test.
