PM Modi hits out at Congress party: ‘They provided shelter to…’

PM Modi also talked about the recent Bihar Assembly election results in which the NDA scored a thumping victory by winning 202 seats out of 243 seats. Prime Minister Modi noted the highest turnout ever in the Bihar elections and praised the “increasing contribution of the people to democracy”.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Monday hit out at the Congress, claiming that “urban Naxals who were in the Congress about 10 years ago” had turned it into the “Muslim League Maowadi Congress” and that the party had “abandoned national interest” for its own personal interests. Delivering the sixth Ramnath Goenka Speech in Delhi, Prime Minister Modi said that Naxalism and Maoist terrorism are decreasing steadily across the country.

“However, surprisingly, these forces seem to be gaining traction within the Congress party. In the last five decades, almost every major state in India has grappled with the grip of Naxalism. Tragically, the Congress has given shelter to Maoist ideologies that openly reject the Constitution of India and hindered the progress of the country,” he alleged. “The urban naxal-Maoist ecosystem that has taken root in the Congress for 10-15 years has transformed it into the Muslim League Maowadi Congress. I can say with responsibility that the Muslim League Maowadi Congress has abandoned national interests for its own interests and is becoming a danger to the unity of the country.”

PM Modi also talked about the recent Bihar Assembly election results in which the NDA scored a thumping victory by winning 202 seats out of 243 seats. Noting that the Bihar elections had the highest turnout, Prime Minister Modi praised the “increasing contribution of the people to democracy”, pointing to the nine percent difference between the vote shares of women and men. Prime Minister Modi said, “No one can ignore the increasing contribution of people to democracy. This was the highest voter turnout in the history of Bihar. Women’s turnout was nine per cent more than men’s. This is also the victory of democracy. The Bihar results have once again revealed the high aspirations of the people of India.” he said.

The Prime Minister also said that the public only trusts political parties that are “well-intentioned” and “prioritize development”. Prime Minister Modi said, “Today, the people of India have faith in political parties that fulfill these aspirations in good faith and give priority to development. The people of Bihar gave 15 years to the RJD. If Lalu Yadav ji had wanted, he could have done a lot for the development of Bihar, but he chose the path of Jungle Raj. The people of Bihar can never forget this.” Nitish Kumar-led National Democratic Alliance (NDA) achieved a landslide victory in the Bihar polls. While NDA won 202 out of 243 seats, BJP emerged as the single largest party by winning 89 seats.
