PM talks up Australia-US ties as Trump pressure grows

1 July 2025 10:15 | News

Australia is an important partner of the United States, the Prime Minister insisted, because Donald faces increasing pressure to lock a face -to -face meeting with Donald Trump.

Since Anthony Arbanese’s first face -to -face face -to -face with the US president ended by events in the Middle East last month, the Prime Minister had a grid for weeks at the next possible meetings.

Some of them are thought to be relatively insignificant compared to other US trade partners, because Mr. Trump has not yet met Albania.

But the Prime Minister does not agree.

“Australia always draws our clay, Syn Syn News said on Tuesday.

“We are important players in providing peace and security in our region, as well as an important economy that provides goods and services to the world and makes a difference.”

“I think the audiences, observers and readers of the media will think that Australia is a small country that does not contribute to this relationship – we are doing it,” he said.

The two leaders were expected to gather on the sides of the G7 Summit in mid -June, but the night before the conversations planned to cope with the increasing tensions between Mr. Trump, Iran and Israel, abandoned the event.

However, the Prime Minister was not the only world leader standing by the US President.

Mexican President Claudia Sheinbaum will meet with Mr. Trump on the same day, while Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskiy and Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi were planned on ice.

Albania, the president understands the decision to leave, which eventually led to a fragile ceasefire between Iran and Israel and will be much more opportunities to meet as the global summit season stalls, he said.

The G20 Leaders Meeting in November, the Summit of Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation in June and the four-time meeting, which will take place for a while this year, offer a second chance to meet the two. Albania can visit the US in September for the United Nations General Assembly.

Some observers also expressed their previous critical comments by US Ambassador Kevin Rudd, Australia’s 50 percent of tariffs in Australia steel and aluminum imports and 10 percent of exemption on other goods may damage negotiations.

However, Mr. Arnavutluk said that the US Vice President JD Vance, who previously made strong comments about Mr. Trump, is now the command.

“There is a former prime minister as our ambassador in Kevin Rudd – this says a lot about the priority we put in the relationship with the United States,” he said.

“I respect the President and I must say that he is respectful to me.”

Mr. Arnavutça spoke to the Republican at least three times, including a call that Mr. Trump congratulated him for re -elected.
