Police constable arrested for sexual harassment of teen girl in Villupuram

A police constable attached to Brammadesam police station in Villupuram district has been arrested under the Protection of Children from Sexual Offenses (POCSO) Act for allegedly sexually harassing a 17-year-old girl.

Police said the action was taken following a complaint filed by the victim’s family at the Tindivanam All Women Police Station.

According to the police, the girl was walking alone on Tindivanam – Marakkanam Road on November 5, 2025, when constable Ilango attached to Brammadesam police station offered to drop the victim home on his motorcycle.

The police officer sexually assaulted the victim and then raised the alarm. He fled the scene. Based on a complaint, a case was registered against Ilango against various Sections of the POCSO Act. He was later arrested.
