Police hunt thieves after rare miniature horses stolen from UK farm | UK | News

Police have launched an appeal for information after two rare miniature horses were stolen from a farm near Edenbridge in Kent.
The animals, a breeding pair of Argentinian Falabella horses, are believed to have been taken from a property on Marsh Green Road between 8pm on May 27 and 1am on May 28. A gate of the farm was also damaged during the incident.
Investigators have released images of the missing stallion and urged the public to come forward with any information that could help locate the animals.
It is stated that the stolen horses were a white stallion with brown spots and a black mare. Both belong to the Falabella breed, one of the smallest horse breeds in the world, standing around 2ft 8in tall.
Police teams conducted house-to-house inspections in the region and examined existing security camera records as part of the investigation. Police are also appealing for local residents, drivers and businesses who may have captured relevant footage during the theft to contact them.
The Falabella breed originated in Argentina through careful selective breeding in the mid-19th century.
According to the Northcote Heavy Horse Center sanctuary, miniature horses have become highly prized for their consistent small size, elegant appearance and friendly temperament.
Despite their small size, Falabellas are not ponies, but real horses bred in miniature form.
Police have not disclosed the reason for the theft but are continuing their investigation to determine the circumstances surrounding the incident and recover the stolen animals.
Anyone with information about the fate of the horses or who witnessed suspicious activity in the area during the relevant period is asked to contact Kent Police.
