Police officer, 35, found dead in car in driveway as ‘heartbroken’ family pay tribute

A serving police officer was found dead in a car parked in the garage of a house.
Tributes were paid to 35-year-old DC Tayyab Malik following his death on Tuesday.
West Midlands Police said officers were called to Yardley Wood Road in Birmingham shortly after 2pm.
The Force said nothing could be done to save him.
It was discovered that he was found in a car parked in the driveway of a home. His death was not considered suspicious.
Police have been investigating the circumstances surrounding the officer’s death since the discovery was made.

Officers sealed off a house at the front and back of the property. A black Volkswagen Polo lay in the driveway of the house, covered by a police blue forensic tent.
Coroners were seen taking photos of a door that had been removed from its hinges.
West Midlands Fire Brigade was also part of the investigation.
A small police tent was seen covering burnt items in the common area close to the rugby poles and children’s playground.
DC Malik’s family and friends paid tribute.
They said in a statement: ‘We are saddened by the loss of Tayyab Malik, a dedicated police officer and a beloved son, husband, brother, friend and nephew.
‘There are no words to describe the depth of our loss. He will be missed beyond words and will always remain in our hearts. ‘May he rest in peace.’
In a statement, a police spokesman said: ‘It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Det Con Tayyab Malik on Tuesday afternoon.
‘Shortly after 2pm we were called to Yardley Wood Road in Birmingham where the body of a 35-year-old man was discovered. Unfortunately, nothing could be done to save him.
‘His death is not being treated as suspicious and a file is being prepared for the coroner.’
Deputy Chief Constable Mike O’Hara, of West Midlands Police, said: ‘We are devastated by this tragic news.
‘Tayyab will be greatly missed by his colleagues and friends at West Midlands Police.
‘Our thoughts are with his family at this terrible time and we offer them whatever support we can.’
