Poonam Pandey breaks her silence on criticism over playing Mandodari’s role in Delhi’s iconic Luv-Kush Ramleela: ‘I am planning to…’

Poonam Pandey appeals to criticism about Delhi’s role in Mandoari in Luv-Kush Ramleela, shares his excitement and plans to fast for nine days in preparation.
In the midst of Delhi’s criticism of Ravan’s wife Mandoari, the iconic Luv-Kush Ramleela, Ponam Pandy replied by sharing his excitement for his preparations and role.
In a video published by UNESCO well-known Luv-Kush Ramleela team, Poonam expressed his enthusiasm: “In Delhi’s red castle, I have the opportunity to play the role of the world-famous Luv-Kush Ramleela, Mandoari. I am very excited.” He emphasized the importance of his character: “Mandoari is a very important role, a very important character. He was the wife of Mandoari Ravan. I look forward to playing this beautiful character.”
Poonam also explained his spiritual preparation for performance by saying that it would be fast for nine days to purify his mind and body: “I also plan to fast for 9 days, so that my body and mind remain cleaner and that I can play this beautiful character well. Jai Shri Ram.”
The discussion last week, Vishwa Hindu Parishad (VHP) objected to the cast of Poonam, referring to the controversial public image – if 2011 wins the ODI World Cup and 2024 fake death announcement, potentially uncomfortable to the dedicated. VHP stressed that Ramayana -based games should consider both acting skills and cultural sensitivity.
This year’s Ramleela will take place as Ravan at Red Fort as of September 22, Arya Babbar, Ram Kinshuk Vaidya, Sita Arya Arya and Parashurama.
