Red Alert in Northern Kerala as Incessant Rains Trigger Flooding, Mudslides

The continuous rains in Kerala caused small fenders in the Kozhikode region and the houses to flood, with the water levels of various rivers in other parts of the province on Thursday, and increased water levels.
In the Kasaragod region, the water level of various rivers, including Uppala, Manjeswaram, Madhur and Puthige, rose due to heavy rains and warned the authorities to be awake.
Similar warnings were given by the authorities about the Korapuzha and Kuttiad rivers in Kozhikode, the perumba in Kannur and the Kabani in the Wayanad regions of the province. As the rains continued, on Thursday, the Department of Meteorology (IMD) raised the orange warning in Kozhikode, Wayanad, Kannur and Kasaragod regions.
In addition, Thrissur, Palakkad and Malackpuram regions raised the yellow warning to orange. A red warning shows heavy rain of over 20 cm in 24 hours, while an orange warning means very heavy rain between 11 cm and 20 cm, and a yellow warning means severe rainfall between 6 cm and 11 cm.
The IMD also issued a red warning for the Northern regions of Wayadad, Kannur and Kasaragod for the next three days for the Kozhikode region on July 19 and 20 and Malaappuram region on July 20.
