Popular shop announces ‘incredibly difficult’ decision | UK | News

The family-run bridal shop, which has been operating for 44 years, is preparing to close its doors. Bridesworld Liverpool has announced that it will close its doors for the final time next week on Wednesday 15 July, ending three generations of family ownership.

Bridesworld, headquartered in Walton, opened on County Road in 1983 and has remained on the premises ever since. The independent store is popular for its wedding dresses, bridesmaids dresses, communion and special occasion wear and is a well-known venue on one of North Liverpool’s busiest shopping streets. The store’s closure was described by its owners as “incredibly difficult”.

The message from Bridesworld said: “After 44 wonderful years and three generations, we have made the incredibly difficult decision to close our doors on July 15. It was not an easy decision.

“Over the past 44 years, we have had the privilege of helping generations of brides and families and have met many wonderful people who have become friends along the way.

“We are deeply grateful for every visit, every purchase, every piece of advice and every word of support you have given us over the years.

“Your loyalty has meant more to us than we can ever express.

“As we close this chapter, we leave with countless treasured memories and sincere appreciation for everyone who has been a part of our journey.

Thank you from the bottom of our hearts for allowing Bridesworld Liverpool to be a part of your special moments for the past 44 years.”

It comes after Copplestones Bridal, an award-winning boutique that has been on Sir Thomas Street for nearly 20 years, will close shop on Friday, July 31, after opening in 2008.

The team had previously confirmed Liverpool Echo He said the “difficult and heartfelt” decision to close was due to rising costs.

A large number of wedding dresses were sold at the closing sale as brides “rushed to bargain”.

Speaking to the Echo, Anfield manager Tracy Tollitt, 59, said: “Everything is so expensive these days. People are buying online now and have been for a while. Things haven’t been good so we were expecting to close down but that’s the way it is across the industry. It’s a tough industry to be in at the moment – it’s really sad. We’ve all been in the industry for a long time and will probably stay in it from now on – it’s what we know and love.”
