Pregnant daughter pushed into Bangladesh, father wonders what will be nationality of the grandchild

“What will happen if my grandson is born in Bangladesh,” Bhodu Sheikh, the father of Sonali Bibi, who was allegedly pushed to Bangladesh, asked. Mr. Sheikh, who lives in Paikar in Birbhum of Western Bengal, said that his daughter, son -in -law and a grandson were forced from Delhi to Bangladesh.

Sonali Bibi is eight months pregnant and a baby is waiting for a baby. While the fate of the three members of his family hangs in Bangladesh, Mr. Sheikh is afraid that he would have no claims about Indian citizenship if his grandson was born in Bangladesh.

Sonali Bibi and her husband Danish sheikh and eight -year -old children, a group of six people who were detained from Delhi a few weeks ago and allegedly pushed to Bangladesh. Among the other members of the six -person group allegedly pushed back are Sweety Bibi and two small.

In July, Sweety Bibi published a video stating that they went to work from an unexplained place and that they were arrested from Delhi, where they were now pushed to Bangladesh. The video called by Sweety Bibi for help was shared in different social media handles, including Trinamool Congress supporters.

Samirul Islam, the Chairman of the West Bengal Migrants, said that the only option that immigrant workers pushed to Bangladesh was to steal the doors of the court. Mr. Islam added that the situation is worrying for Sonali Bibi, who is engaged in pregnancy in custody.

According to reports, immigrant workers first approached a court in Delhi and then before the Calcutta Supreme Court. In the Delhi court, the case withdrew and the Calcutta Supreme Court directed the Delhi government to submit all documents. The issue will start hearing in front of the Calcutta Supreme Court on August 20th.

Before that, there have been several examples of immigrant workers who claimed to have been pushed to Bangladesh by security institutions. A few families were sent back after they approached the Calcutta Supreme Court. On August 13, Amir Sheikh, a migratory worker of Maliachak, who was arrested from Rajasthan and allegedly pushed back to Bangladesh, was sent back with his family. In a presentation in front of the court, the BSF said that sheik was arrested without appropriate documents when entering India from Bangladesh.

On August 18, Western Bengal Prime Minister Mamata Bannerjee announced Shramashree, a new program that provides a monthly payment of 5,000 to one year for an immigrant worker returning to the state. The state government also proposed a portal for the recording of immigrants from the state.
