AIADMK released its second candidate list number 127 for the upcoming Tamil Nadu Assembly elections on Friday, March 27, 2026. The party has so far nominated 150 candidates, of which 23 are in the first list. An interesting feature of the list was the inclusion of P. Saravanan, who was contesting as a BJP candidate in Madurai (North) in 2021 on the AIADMK-led front. This time, he is trying his luck in the same seat.

Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam (TVK) president Vijay on Friday, March 27, 2026, accused the Greater Chennai Police and some officials of obstructing the planned election campaign in Perambur Assembly constituency in the city on Saturday, March 28, and termed the denial of permission as a “fascist attack on democracy”.

The Election Commission released the second supplementary list under the SIR of electoral rolls in West Bengal on Friday night, an official said. However, the survey panel did not provide detailed information about the total number of deletions or additions in the second list. The EC said the stand-by-stand lists were published on the EC website at around 11.30pm, but web pages containing data on deletions or additions were not accessible due to some “technical glitches”.

The Union Territory of Assam, Kerala and Puducherry will go to polls on April 9, 2026. Elections in Tamil Nadu will be held on April 23. The first phase of the elections will be held in West Bengal on April 23, 2026, and the second phase will be held on April 29, 2026. The counting of all these elections will be held on May 4, 2026.
