CNG Sales Increased 100 Per Cent In Hyderabad: MOP&NG

Haydarabad: Ministry of Petroleum and Natural Gas (MOP & NG), Haydarabad Geographical Region (GA) compressed natural gas (CNG) sales of approximately 1.12 lacquer kg/day (FY FY 2023-24), until June 2025 has reported that more than 2.1 lakh kg/day.

Bhagyanagar Gas Limited (BGL) reported to the Ministry that it is in the process of constant defining new places to address demand. In Telangana, the Petroleum and Natural Gas Regulatory Board (PNGRB) allowed nine gas to improve the infrastructure of the City Gas Distribution (CGD) infrastructure, including a GA spread to Tahangana and Karnataka.

The Geographical Zone Haydarabad is authorized to BGL for the development of the CGD network. As of May 31, 2025, the authorized organization established 83 CNG stations in GA. These CNG stations appeal to approximately 55,000 to 60,000 cng vehicle per day.

This answered a question brought to the agenda by BJP Deputy Konda Vishweshwar Reddy in Lok Sabha, and the Minister of Petroleum and Natural Gas Hardeep Singh Puri.

The Minister of the Union also said that the central government has taken multiple steps to increase the share of natural gas in the primary energy mixture. This is the expansion of the national gas grid pipeline, the expansion of the CGD network, the establishment of liquefied natural gas (LNG) terminals, domestic gas CNG (transportation) and pipe natural gas (domestic) PNG (D), high pressure and high temperature areas produced with a ceiling price and pricing freedom (D) Biocng, etc.

In order to increase the access of natural gas in the country, in addition to authorizing natural gas pipelines, PNGRB gave CGD organizations to develop a CGD network in 307 geographical areas covering almost 100 percent of the mainland of the country (except for islands). As of May 31, 2025, various CGD assets provided 1.50 CRORES DOMESTIC PNG connections, and until 2034, approximately 12.6 Crore domestic PNG connection and 8,083 CNG station with 18.336 CNG station.

This indicates more than ten times an increase in the number of CNG stations in the country, which stands in 783 in 2014.
