Authorities continue to investigate the cause and effects of the multi -vehicle accident between their 32 and 33 intersections, while an air ambulance among the emergency service vehicles in the accident area.

Lancashire police spokesman said: “At 10:17 this morning, we received a multi -vehicle collision report between 32 and 33 intersections in the south of the M6.

“Our officers and other emergency service colleagues stay at the scene where ambulance service treats people.

“This is too much in the early stages, but we anticipate that the highway and A6 junction will be closed for a while as we and our colleagues respond to the incident.

“We know that the delay of your journey or the change of your route may be frustrating. Please, we understand that you are patient and our officers and colleagues are working to continue their normality as soon as possible. At this stage, we will respond to the collision and we will bring you updates when we can.
