British royal expert Helena Chard told Fox News Digital that Harry wanted out of royal life when his mother, Princess Diana, died in 1997.

“When Diana died, 12-year-old Harry wanted out of royal life. The grief, the goldfish bowl, the cameras at every turn. It was overwhelming and too much for him. Royal life was more like surveillance than family,” Chard said.

He explained that he needed to maintain his royal status in order to make deals in Hollywood.

“In Hollywood, her currency was her royal title,” Chard added. “The deals were tied to the British royal family and Prince Harry’s title. Since Harry was on his own, he couldn’t finalize deals. He preferred palace scrutiny to Hollywood scrutiny but had no institutional protection.”

“He has made it clear that he has not and will not return to royal duties. He has returned to his royal identity because without it he cannot pursue media deals and business ventures. He rejected the crown to recover, then re-appropriated it only to be heard of with the goldfish bowl setting the scene.”

British royal expert Ian Pelham Turner said it made sense for Harry to be so open about his emotions and how he felt about the royal family.

Turner even noted that Harry’s anger towards the public eye was evident during his teenage years.

Royal commentator Amanda Matta told Fox News Digital it was clear that Harry believed the monarchy had let him down.

“I think reading between the lines, it becomes clear that Harry believes the royal system has failed him on a personal level. Being forced into the role of ‘prince’ from birth has alienated him from his own future as much as his mother’s death,” he began.

“Since stepping back from royal duties, he has consistently positioned himself as someone who has had to ‘redefine purpose’ outside the structure into which he was born,” Matta continued.

“Other parts of his summit speech may have discussed mental health and personal resilience in the workplace more broadly, but here he also points out that the organization prioritizes mission, optics and continuity above all else.”

“She’s absolutely right; the trolling and harassment has been non-stop since day one of her relationship with Harry. In some corners of the internet it has become a game or pastime for people,” she said.

“I’m heartened to see how Meghan is now able to talk about this experience, but even the reaction to her making these statements has been cynical and cruel in places. I’m afraid this is now Meghan’s ‘normal’ mode of being a public figure.”

However, Chard disagreed with Markle’s remarks about being bullied.

“Typical… Harry and Meghan visit a youth mental health group in between business work, and Meghan uses the visit as a platform to once again talk about herself,” Chard said.

“He claims to be the most trolled person in the entire world. … This is bullshit. How can he measure that? So many people are trolled. Again, this shows how he keeps the drama going and constantly ignites trust.”
