Prince William ‘does iffy Welsh accent’ while off-duty with pals as ‘disguises’ exposed | Royal | News

Prince William was allegedly disguised and using a “suspicious” Welsh accent while enjoying some free time with friends. Last week, the Future King was seen enthusiastically celebrating his beloved Aston Villa’s Europa League victory on the terraces in Istanbul with his long-time friends.
It was a rare glimpse of how the future monarch took great pleasure in the simple things in life, like seeing the football team you support score a vital goal. Pictures of William singing his heart out were shown all over the world – and he was joined by former Ludgrove Preparatory School classmate Thomas van Straubenzee, now a senior executive at Knight Frank, godfather of Princess Charlotte, and former banker Edward van Cutsem, godson of King Charles.
The 43-year-old actor was also joined by Ben Dawes, who runs a wine business in Wimbledon.
According to a report in the journal Daily MailWilliam and his friends meet up “rarely”, but when they do it’s a hit and they enjoy barbecue, beer and wine.
They are said to gather at each other’s houses to avoid the public gaze – or sometimes meet in West London pubs, where discreet hosts welcome them to quieter back rooms.
A royal source told the publication that William “occasionally disguises himself,” which could include shaving his beard and wearing a hat and glasses.
But they also suggested the heir to the throne occasionally uses a “suspicious” Welsh accent to prevent outsiders from understanding who he really is.
The source said young people often go on annual ski holidays. They added: “Like all senior royals, he rarely lets his guard down with anyone. He is wary of getting too close to others. His actual inner circle is very selective.”
They added: “His occasionally boisterous behavior needs to be toned down so he doesn’t draw too much attention to himself, but these are a bit of a ‘hair-down’ moment for William, who can’t act like this anywhere else.”
After Aston Villa ended their 30-year trophy drought by beating Freiburg 3-0 in the Europa League final on May 20, William was said to have had a beer with the players after the match.
This was according to defender Matty Cash, who said: “He was there having a beer with us. He was delighted. He’s such a big supporter. He always comes to the training ground, he’s always at Villa Park.”
“And she deserves moments like this, and hopefully she can let her hair down today.”
William wrote on social media: “Fabulous night! Huge congratulations to all players, team, staff and everyone associated with the club! 44 years since our last taste of European silverware!”
Kensington Palace has been contacted to respond to the allegations made in this story.
