Prince William found ordinary thing ‘eye-opening’ when meeting Kate’s family | Royal | News

Prince William reportedly found something so ordinary so “eye-opening” when he spent time with Princess Catherine’s family for the first time. While William always grew up in the royal world, with royal personnel and privileges that most of us will never experience, that wasn’t always the case for his wife Catherine.

This was because Catherine grew up in a fairly ordinary home, with no staff and her parents doing most of the traditional family chores themselves. While the future Queen now knows what royal life is like and has her own staff, it is believed the way her family ran things initially took William by surprise during their dating days. This was because the future King was not used to informality.

He said the source told him: “William found this informal situation enlightening.

“It was such a relief for the Middletons to go to the store to buy food, make sure there was enough bread in the house, empty their own bins and put the recycling away on the right day.”

While William and Catherine have access to royal staff to do almost every household task for them, it is believed that the Prince and Princess of Wales do not take full advantage of this.

According to the Daily Mail’s royal source: “He (William) has introduced a lot of relative informality into his home life, particularly with fewer footmen hanging around [his and Kate’s homes].

“The cook can sometimes be unnecessary as William or Kate often cook themselves.”

It is believed that this will not change when William becomes King one day, and the family is also reportedly determined to stay at Forest Lodge rather than moving to a larger royal residence such as Windsor Castle or Buckingham Palace.
