PSU Employee Duped of ₹15 lakh in Cyber Fraud

A 56-year-old BHEL Township employee lost ₹15 lakh to cyber fraudsters posing as TRAI, police, CBI and RBI officials. They threatened him with arrest in a trumped-up money laundering and human trafficking case.

The scam started in March with a robocall warning about SIM deactivation. The caller claimed that he was issued multiple SIMs in Bengaluru using his Aadhaar card. This was followed by a WhatsApp video call in which a fraudster pretending to be a police officer claimed that his Aadhaar was linked to illegal activities. Another impersonator, claiming to be a CBI officer, threatened arrest and passport blocking. Fake notifications similar to those of the Enforcement Directorate and the RBI were sent to promote the scam.

Forced victim transferred ₹15 lakh via RTGS to an account purportedly for verification. Cybercrime police of Cyberabad Commissionerate registered a case and launched an investigation.

Lucky Escape: Three Survived in High Speed ​​Crash Near Kokapet Cycling Track

Three people survived after being hit by a speeding car on the service road near Kokapet cycle track, Narsingi police said on Monday. Police said the accident took place when Aman, along with his friends Prakash and Melinda, were heading towards Hitec city from Kokapet toll booth. Police reported that the driver was driving the vehicle negligently at high speed near the underpass service road bridge, when the vehicle went out of control and crashed into bushes and trees next to the bicycle path. The car was damaged in the accident. However, all those inside escaped unharmed. Upon being informed, the police arrived at the scene, filed a criminal complaint against the driver and initiated legal action on the grounds that he was driving carelessly and carelessly.

Driver escaped with ₹1 lakh and two-wheeler

A businessman from Narsingi claimed that his driver escaped with ₹ 1 lakh cash and a two-wheeler. The complainant, Uma Maheshwar, said that she had put her Benz car up for sale and received an advance of Rs 1 lakh in cash from a buyer. The money was hidden in a bag in the back seat. Later, Maheshwar and his driver Syed Taher went to his office in Kukatpally. Assured by Taher that the money was safe, Maheshwar left in another vehicle.

That night, Taher returned the Benz to Maheshwar’s house but allegedly fled with money and the two-wheeler. His phone was off. The police registered the incident and launched an investigation.

Brothers drowned in Kaukur pond

The two brothers drowned while bathing in a pond near Kaukur Dargah on Sunday afternoon. Jawaharnagar police identified the deceased as driver Akula Mohan and his younger brother Akula Krishna, residents of Disabled Persons Colony in Balajinagar. Police said Mohan slipped into the pond and drowned. Krishna jumped to save her but also drowned. After local people reported the situation to the police, NDRF teams recovered both bodies after intense efforts. A case was registered on the complaint of their elder brother Akula Naveen Kumar. The investigation continues.

B.Tech student killed due to honor killing

Chilkalguda police solved a pre-planned murder case involving a 21-year-old BTech student, who was allegedly killed by a group of ten men due to sexual jealousy. The victim, identified as Bommana Yavan alias Akhil, was in a relationship with the accused’s relative Chandrika. Police said the accused, who was enraged after Chandrika refused to leave Akhil, conspired with her family members to eliminate her.

On May 9, the gang caught Akhil while he was cycling in Indiranagar Colony in Medibavi and fatally attacked him.

Those arrested included Allaboina Sai Kiran (rowdy sheeter, Chilkalguda PS), Rajam Paramesh Kumar Yadav alias Don, Rajam Vamshi Krishna alias Rakhi, Rajam Manish alias Bichu, Srigiri Rahul, Kuchula Shiva Nandan Yadav, Rajam Narsimha Yadav, Rajam Srisailam Yadav, Rajam Mallesh Yadav alias Mallanna and a child. They were brought before the court.

Police said that during interrogation, the accused revealed that Sai Kiran, who wanted to marry Chandrika, had a deep grudge against Akhil. He planned the murder along with his colleagues and Chandrika’s relatives. DCP Secunderabad District Rakshitha Krishna Murthy said, “Yavan and Chandrika had a long-term relationship. The accused conspired and executed the crime due to jealousy.”

Cash officer arrested for ₹23 lakh fraud

Madhuranagar police arrested Abbi Reddy Yadagiri Reddy, a cash handler at SBI’s Yousufguda branch, for allegedly embezzling ₹23 lakh by forging bank entries.

Police said Yadagiri, who had been working since October 7, 2025, conspired to mislead the management by installing a fake Sensor Print Report (SPR) device in the branch ATM. He allegedly created fake entries showing withdrawals of Rs 27.5 lakh without actually disbursing cash.

Suspicions arose when authorities noticed a discrepancy in the ledger accounts. The discrepancies were confirmed the next day when the safes were moved to the safe room. CCTV footage later revealed that Yadagiri had deliberately committed fraud.

Branch general manager Kiran Kumar filed a complaint and a case was registered for forgery, criminal intimidation, breach of trust and cheating. Police said the exact amount withdrawn had been calculated and rescue efforts were ongoing.

Professor claims wife and lover plotted murder

A professor from Ghatkesar has filed a complaint alleging that his wife and her lover conspired to eliminate him, installed spy cameras in his house and assaulted him.

She alleged that the accused carried out a fake kidnapping in 2025, took her to Mulugu in the middle of the night and withdrew Rs 2.6 lakh using credit cards. He also recently accused his wife of attacking him with a knife, injuring his leg and threatening to kill him. The police filed a case based on his complaint and arrested the duo.

Hyderabad: While the inmates were on their way to attend a wedding, thieves broke into a locked house in Goshamahal and escaped with 28 tolas of gold, Rs 5 lakh in cash and other belongings. Hyderabad: Hyderabad Narcotics Enforcement Wing (H-NEW) personnel along with Panjagutta police on Monday arrested three drug consumers and a street dealer and seized 11.5 grams of MDMA and 7 grams of charas worth Rs 1.4 lakh from them. The consumers were a software worker, an AI engineer, and a human resources officer. The accused drug dealer was identified as real estate agent Thakur R, Keshav Raj. He completed his MBA education, worked in sales and marketing for a short time, and then engaged in real estate and stock market activities. He said he first procured the drugs for personal consumption but started selling them to consumers. He mainly targeted bars, party circles, friends and acquaintances.

Hyderabad: Serilingampally DCP Ch Srinivas said Patancheru police and Special Operations Team (SOT) busted an interstate ganja smuggling network and arrested seven persons involved in transportation of 400 kg of dry ganja. Police seized ganja, a mini-truck, a car and six mobile phones, all worth about $2 billion.

The buyer, Manish Padwal from Maharashtra, and the supplier from Odisha were on the run. Padwal contacted negotiator Pratap Haridas Pawar, who coordinated with the Odisha-based supplier and arranged transportation through the owner of the mini-truck. On May 8, the accused went to Odisha, hid the contraband under empty plastic plastic trays in the truck and was taking it to Maharashtra. The car was used as an escort vehicle during transportation via Outer Ring Road in Hyderabad. The gang was arrested near Muthangi on Monday.

Hyderabad: A fire broke out in an apartment in Gajularamaram near Jeedimetla on Monday evening and police said the fire was probably triggered after a geyser burst. It was reported that an LPG cylinder exploded during the incident, which further intensified the flames and damaged household goods. An old woman was also in the house when the fire broke out. He noticed the flames in time and got to safety. No casualties or injuries were reported. His family was not at home at the time of the incident

According to fire officials, fire crews from Kukatpally and Jeedimetla fire stations reached the spot after receiving the alert and launched a comprehensive operation and brought the flames under control in about an hour. Hyderabad: Attapur police arrested ten people for the murder of air conditioning technician Mohammed Hussain, a resident of Langer Houz, for allegedly collecting $700 as advance to deliver marijuana but failed to do so. Police identified the accused as K. Prashanth, Mitta Jagadeesh, Ram Roshan Yadav, G. Tarun Kumar, A. Nikhil, G. Raj Kumar, M. Jagdish, K. Prashant, K. Vengal Rao and M. Prashanth.

Police said Prashant started arguing with Hussain on May 9 for not handing over the marijuana. The main suspect was joined by his friends, who beat Hüseyin, leading to his death.
