Pune Court frames charges in Nasrapur child murder case in 28 days

The Bhor taluka court filed charges against the accused in the murder of a child in Nasrapur village of Pune district within 28 days of the incident. The hearing will be held in camera every day after the court records the prima facie evidence of the investigation.
On May 1, a child who came to his grandmother’s house for summer vacation was playing in front of her house. The defendant took him to a barn, saying he would show him a calf. It was claimed that he raped her there and killed her with a stone. He allegedly hid the body under a pile of cow dung.
When the child did not arrive in the afternoon, the family started searching. The body was found in the barn. Surveillance footage from 3:30 p.m. showed the defendant taking the child to the barn. The villagers caught the suspect and handed him over to the police.
The police filed a criminal complaint within 15 days. A sexual examination report and security camera footage were presented to the court. The defendant’s lawyers opposed the framing of the charges at the first hearing. After examining the evidence, the court filed a criminal complaint against the defendant.
When the judge asked the defendant about the case, he said that it was a matter of a minor fight. This statement drew reaction in the courtroom. Police investigation revealed two similar cases in the past against the accused. According to the information obtained, he was acquitted in these cases due to lack of evidence.
