Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann on Friday (June 5, 20926) announced that eligible women across the state will start receiving financial assistance under the Mukh Mantri Mawan Dheeyan Satkar Yojna from July 1, 2026. Reviewing the implementation of the flagship plan, Mr Mann said the initiative aims to strengthen women’s financial independence and enable them to live with dignity and self-respect.

Mr. Mann said that under the Mukh Mantri Mawan Dheeyan Satkar Yojna, every eligible woman in Punjab will get ₹1,000 per month, while women belonging to the Scheduled Caste category will get ₹1,500 per month. “The funds will be transferred directly to the bank accounts of the beneficiaries and women who are already receiving social security pension will also be eligible under this scheme. Around 97% of women in Punjab are expected to benefit from this initiative and the Government of Punjab has allocated ₹ 9,300 crore from the budget for its implementation,” he said.

Highlighting the larger social significance of the programme, the Prime Minister said that although the financial assistance would not make women rich, it would provide them with dignity and self-respect. “Women deserve the greatest respect because they are the source of life. The blessings of mothers and sisters can help overcome every challenge in the world. Strengthening women’s financial autonomy is essential for improving household well-being, promoting gender equality and increasing women’s participation in social and economic decision-making.”

Reviewing the progress of the registration process, the Chief Minister said that registration has already started across the state and hundreds of thousands of women are registering every day. “Women belonging to the Scheduled Caste category will receive ₹ 1,500 per month under the scheme. Around two lakh Mahila Satkar Sakhis have been given the responsibility of registering eligible beneficiaries,” he said.

CM Bhagwant Singh Mann also informed that the registrations are being carried out through Anganwadi Centres, Sewa Kendras and other places specially designated by the Deputy Commissioners in their respective districts. “This initiative will go a long way in empowering women in Punjab and ensuring that they can lead their lives with dignity and self-confidence,” he added.
