Vladimir Putin has issued a sharp new threat to the West, warning of a massive nuclear naval arsenal as he struggles for supremacy in the war against Ukraine. The dictator’s chilling high-speed Poseidon underwater drone, powered by his own atomic reactor, is on track to become operational, he claimed.

Putin’s propagandists claimed they were capable of triggering radioactive tidal waves that could flood many parts of Britain, and that the sinister weapon was nearing completion and ready to be deployed.

The Russian President is in St. Petersburg after being forced to abandon his usual massive show of force on the annual Navy Day because of threats that Ukraine would blow up his warships or attempt to assassinate him. He was speaking from the command bunker at the Naval Forces Headquarters in St. Petersburg.

“The Navy is of great importance in the nuclear triad,” he said. “It goes without saying that the importance of a submarine fleet equipped with intercontinental ballistic missiles to deter any enemy and inflict unacceptable damage in the event of a direct attack on Russia and the threat to our country’s sovereignty.”

Putin told his senior executives: “I would like to emphasize once again that we did not start any war.

“We have only begun to respond to the hostilities, the war, initiated by the current Kiev regime, with the support of the West, against the southeast of Ukraine, always facing Russia.”

He promised that the war in Ukraine “will undoubtedly end sooner or later” but not with a peace agreement. “The enemy will be defeated and victory will be Russia’s,” Putin said.

When he arrived in St Petersburg to celebrate a shortened version of Russia’s annual Navy Day, the internet was shut down due to security services’ fears that it could help guide an assassination attack on the Kremlin dictator.

The cuts received great reaction from citizens.

The regular Home Marine parade, which traditionally features dozens of warships and ceremonial salutes, was canceled due to threats of Ukrainian attacks. He attended scaled-back events at Admiralty headquarters, where the city was bristling with air defenses.

Addressing naval commanders from a high-security command post, Putin once again claimed he was heading towards victory in the war in Ukraine.

But many analysts believe Putin’s support has waned as Ukraine’s attacks reached deeper into Russia.

Naval commander Alexander Moiseev said that the new nuclear submarine cruiser Perm, whose firepower Putin has mocked the West with, will enter service by the end of the year, armed with Zircon hypersonic missiles, one of 20 new ships.

Despite all his naval might, Putin has witnessed the destruction of more than 200 ships, mostly tankers and cargo shadow fleet ships, by Ukraine this month in the Black and Azov seas.

It also faces a growing number of illegal vessel seizures.

Putin said, “In such situations, of course, we must act carefully but decisively within the framework of international maritime law.”

“We must fight piracy and pirates.”

He demanded “effective work” from fleet commanders against the seizure of ships. While Putin was speaking, the horror of the Chernihiv ATB supermarket attack became clear.
