Qld teacher barred over sexual comments, race-based student reprimand
A Queensland teacher who talked to students about sexual fantasies and told First Nations children that other students were “taking their rights” has been banned from teaching for five years.
The teacher, who works at a public secondary school and has almost two decades of experience, was accused by many students of making sexually explicit comments, with his behavior spanning nearly four years.
In the decision made by the Queensland Civil and Administrative Tribunal, it was stated that there was evidence that the teacher discussed his sexual life as well as sexual acts with a student and told him that another teacher would help him take off his wet clothes. The school was alerted to the concerns following an email from the pupil’s mother.
The student allegedly talked about sexual fantasies, explaining that “women like more than one man” and said that “women’s sexual fantasies are gangbang” and continued talking about men’s threesome fantasies.
The student said the teacher then talked about her and her boyfriend and said words to the effect of: “I know you and [the boyfriend] I would handle this.
The court heard this evidence was corroborated by another student. The teacher denied making inappropriate comments to students during class.
He was also accused of discussing the shape of the penis, pornography and sexual positions.
Another claim was that the teacher made threatening comments to a student, implying that he should masturbate. He also touched on the frequency of personal masturbation with students and the sexual lives of paralyzed people.
In one incident in 2020, a student said the man took the Rubik’s cube he was playing with in class from him and said, “You have things to play with in your body.”
The court heard that several students corroborated this evidence.
On another occasion, the teacher said during a lecture: “If you keep rocking in the chair, you will be paralyzed from the waist down and won’t be able to have an erection. No one will want to have sex with you or date you.”
According to the decision, the teacher scolded a First Nations student for misbehaving in 2020, brought him to the front of the class and “told students of non-European descent to stand up and said that students who were standing were taking away the rights of other students.” [white] students”.
The video, shot by a student, shows several people standing and the teacher speaking to them in an aggressive and intimidating manner.
“Video recordings [the teacher] In the ruling, the Aboriginal student who was supposed to be standing called Student T a hypocrite, citing the Black Lives Matter movement and arguing that the standing students were denying the ‘rights’ of other students.
The teacher later denied the allegations, but acknowledged the behavior when shown the video, but denied it was racially motivated and said it was not intentional and that he was “emotionally triggered”.
In another incident, a student asked the teacher how painful a beating was. The teacher took a bandage clip and used the sharp part to stab the student’s arm until it bled. In the decision, it was stated that the student had a scar on his arm and photographs of this scar were taken.
The teacher was also accused of aggressively confronting another teacher who was pregnant, swearing and slamming the door in her face.
In particular, 8th grade students were accused of not properly performing their teaching duties, especially class attendance and playground duties.
The teacher resigned following the allegations of the Ministry of National Education.
He became a teacher in 2003 and was registered until April last year, when his registration was canceled due to non-payment of fees.
The court said the man did not respond to the allegations against him and did not produce any documents other than statements at the hearings.
The report said the teacher engaged in a variety of behavior toward students and staff at the middle school over an extended period of time, including sexualized, racially biased, aggressive, physically inappropriate and unprofessional behavior.
“We concluded that this showed a degree of arrogance, insensitivity, lack of insight and recklessness. [the teacher] The court said society generally would not reasonably expect any teacher to be in a position to care for and guide the community’s children in a learning environment, and would not regard this as appropriate or even permissible in any way.
It was decided that the man would not be allowed to teach for five years.
