Russia launches major ballistic-missile attack on Kyiv and Kharkiv

Russia launched ballistic missile attacks on Ukrainian cities, killing four people and wounding at least 36, officials said.
3 people died and 20 people were injured in the eastern city of Kharkiv, and 1 person died and 16 people were injured in the capital Kiev.
Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky described the raid on Kiev as “one of the largest ballistic attacks” on the capital since the beginning of Russia’s full-scale invasion.
Meanwhile, Ukraine continued its attacks on Russian fields. Three Russian oil tankers in the Black Sea were hit, as well as facilities in the southwestern Stavropol region, Zelensky said.
Many areas in the Kyiv region were hit during the night. The Ukrainian military said air defenses in the capital shot down 18 of 41 missiles. The systems also intercepted 108 UAVs.
Kharkiv Governor Oleh Syniehubov said a postal terminal in the city’s suburbs was attacked and three people aged between 24 and 62 were killed. Three of the injured are in serious condition.
In his Telegram message, Zelensky said that Russia “used approximately 1,450 attack aircraft, more than 1,640 guided bombs and 99 different types of missiles against Ukraine” last week.
Zelensky also shared a post on Telegram about Ukraine’s attacks.
“SBU [security service] “While our troops simultaneously hit three oil depots in the Stavropol region, our Armed Forces’ troops also hit another fuel oil facility in the same region,” he said.
“Clear hits were recorded on three Russian ‘shadow fleet’ tankers in the Black Sea. I thank each of our units for helping to spread awareness in Russia that this war must end.”
The Caspian Pipeline Consortium, which carries Kazakhstan’s Caspian oil to Russia’s Black Sea port of Novorossiysk, said its terminal was hit.
He said two tankers were damaged, resulting in suspension of oil loading operations. There were no injuries or oil spills.
The governor of Stavropol said that a drone attack caused a fire in an industrial area.
Ukraine’s air force said the latest attacks on Kiev involved a number of Russian weapons systems, including Iskander and hypersonic Zircon missiles, as well as 125 unmanned aerial vehicles.
On Sunday, Kiev Mayor Vitaliy Klitschko said both residential and non-residential buildings were damaged, including a supermarket and a dormitory.
Fire crews are responding to the fire in two warehouses. Ukraine’s Emergencies Ministry said a logistics center in the Bucha region near Kiev was hit and two people were injured.
The overnight strikes came after Ukraine sent drones to destroy two warehouses belonging to Russia’s largest online retailer Wildberries, killing eight people and sparking massive fires.
