Skate park stabbing sparks murder probe as man, 20s, dies | UK | News

A murder investigation has been launched after a man was tragically stabbed to death and a teenager suffered life-threatening injuries at a skate park.

Northamptonshire Police launched a murder investigation following the incident in Briar Hill, Ringway, in broad daylight on Wednesday, February 18.

Emergency services were called to the skatepark in Briar Hill, Ringway, following reports that two men had been stabbed during an argument at the park.

A man in his 20s unfortunately died at the scene, while a young boy remains in a critical condition in hospital due to his injuries.

Northamptonshire Police confirmed four men were arrested and remain in custody following the fight.

The incident occurred at around 3.45pm on Wednesday and a police cordon is expected to remain in the park while the investigation continues.

Many roads were also affected by the incident and citizens were asked to avoid the area as much as possible.

Detective Chief Inspector Torie Harrison, Senior Investigating Officer from the East Midlands Special Operations Unit, said: “This is a tragic incident in which a man has sadly lost his life and a young boy is in a critical condition. Our thoughts are with both families at this difficult time.

“We know that incidents like this can be a cause for concern in the neighborhood and the wider community and I would like to reassure you that we have a dedicated team of officers working quickly to establish what is happening.

“High visibility police patrols will be carried out in the area to reassure the local community and I would encourage anyone with concerns in the area to approach one of our officers who will be happy to help.

“Arrests were made immediately and investigations continue to progress rapidly, but I would still appeal for any witnesses or anyone with information that has not yet come forward to do so.”

Police confirmed there will be an increased police presence in the area following the alleged murder.

The force is appealing for anyone with further details to contact them, particularly regarding CCTV, doorbell or mobile phone footage.
