Racing driver Joey Mawson is named as the alleged rapist accused of sexually assaulting Michael Schumacher’s nurse at the F1 legend’s home

The Australian race car driver accused of raping a nurse caring for former F1 world champion Michael Schumacher has today been identified as Joey Mawson.
The defendant is said to have raped the nurse twice on November 23, 2019, in the bedroom of the 56-year-old German star’s mansion in Gland, near Geneva.
Mawson, 29, vehemently denies the accusation, but according to court officials ‘he has not been heard from for months’.
This statement came after the opening of a hearing in Nyon, Switzerland, on Wednesday, which Mawson did not attend.
In his absence, the rape case was officially opened, but was later adjourned ‘to a date to be determined’.
Prosecutor Xavier Christe confirmed that this was because the defendant did not appear for the hearing.
Patrick Michod, on behalf of the victim, opposed the adjournment, arguing there was ‘evidence’. [against the defendant] oppressive.”
The three judges on the court deliberated for an hour before agreeing to the postponement.

The alleged attack took place at Schumacher’s mansion in Gland, Switzerland (pictured).
Switzerland has an extradition treaty with Australia, so the defendant could technically be forced to travel to Europe.
Mawson is a close friend of Schumacher’s 26-year-old son Mick Schumacher and is also a driver.
The complainant, who cannot be named for legal reasons, was part of the medical team that provided assistance to Schumacher, a former seven-time F1 champion who has not been seen in public since his skiing accident in 2013.
The Schumacher family was not involved in the case and was not listed as a witness in the trial in Nyon District Court.
The defendant admitted that he had a ‘consensual relationship’ with the woman in her 30s and said that he had the phone messages to prove it.
He also said the woman only filed a complaint against him two years after the alleged assault, after the Schumacher family fired her from her job.
It was stated that on the night of the alleged rape, the nurse felt bad and could not stand because she drank vodka after shift.
According to prosecution documents, he was carried into a private room reserved for staff on the night shift by a physiotherapist and the defendant, who put him to bed ‘without undressing’.
Michael Schumacher (pictured) suffered catastrophic brain injuries during a skiing accident in the French Alps in 2013 and has not been seen in public since.
It was alleged that Mawson, who was staying in the next room, later returned and raped her twice.
He often stayed with the Schumacher family between races to avoid long flights back to Australia.
No complaints were received from the alleged victim until January 2022, and the defendant cooperated in the early stages of the investigation.
