RAF Lossiemouth LIVE: ‘Suspicious package’ sparks bomb squad response | UK | News

A cordon was established and the bomb squad was called after a “suspicious package” was found at RAF Lossiemouth. Civilians are currently asked to stay away from the area.

The spokesman who confirmed the incident had nothing to do with the previously announced drill event involving base personnel this week. The main gate of the base in Moray, in north-east Scotland, was closed as a precaution. The spokesman said: “We can confirm that a suspicious package was discovered during a routine security search at RAF Lossiemouth. EOD (Explosive Ordnance Disposal) was notified and a cordon was established. This is not part of the previously advertised exercise activity. As a security precaution, we would ask everyone to avoid the area while we work with civilian agencies to resolve the issue.”
