Rahul Gandhi Demands Parliament Debate on NEET Brutality
Leader of Opposition Rahul Gandhi, along with some opposition MPs, met Lok Sabha Speaker Om Birla on Tuesday and urged him to allow a debate in Parliament on the “atrocities unleashed” on students and the government’s “total lack of responsibility” for the examination crisis. Besides Gandhi, SP’s Dharmendra Yadav, Shiv Sena’s (UBT’s) Arvind Savant, RSP’s NK Premchandran and others met the Speaker at his office before the start of the Assembly debates.

Gandhi said the students were beaten for asking legitimate questions about their future.
If Parliament cannot discuss the future of India’s youth, what good is it, he asked?
Gandhi said, “The opposition will not allow this to be covered up. We will ensure that the voice of the students is heard on the streets and in Parliament.” he said.
Manickam Tagore, Congress leader in the Lok Sabha, said Gandhi met Birla along with some other opposition MPs and sought a discussion on the “attack on students” during the protest against the paper leak issue on Monday.
“We demand Home Minister Amit Shah to come to Parliament and respond on this issue,” he said.
Earlier, INDIA bloc leaders met at the Opposition Leader’s chamber in Rajya Sabha Mallikarjun Kharge before the start of the second day of the Monsoon Session of Parliament and discussed the opposition’s strategy.
Besides Kharge, Congress Parliamentary Party chief Sonia Gandhi, Leader of Opposition in Lok Sabha, Congress general secretaries Jairam Ramesh and KC Venugopal, Samajwadi Party’s Dharmendra Yadav, NCP (SP)’s Supriya Sule, Shiv Sena (UBT)’s Sanjay Raut, JMM’s Mahua Maji, CPI(M)’s John Brittas and P Santhosh were present in the meeting. Kumar, among others, also attended.
Opposition protests over the NEET paper ‘leak’ issue halted hearings in both Houses on the opening day of the Monsoon Session on Monday; Chaos reigned outside as CJP-led protesters breached barricades to reach near the Parliament complex to press for the resignation of Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan.
The Lok Sabha and Rajya Sabha witnessed multiple adjournments during the day as opposition MPs shouted slogans, held banners demanding discussion on leak of NEET papers and also allegations of donation theft in Ram temple.
In the Rajya Sabha, Kharge stood up to talk about the NEET-UG 2026 paper leak and said that the issue concerns the future of lakhs of students.
