Raveena Tandon Calls Lord Shiva ‘All-Loving’

While sharing her thoughts on Mahashivratri and its profound spiritual impact on her life, Raveena Tandon opened up about her devotion to Lord Shiva, describing him as “an all-loving, all-forgiving, universal being”.

Speaking to the media, the actor said that Shiva’s bhakti is a liberating feeling as it comes without strict rules or restrictions. “It doesn’t enforce any laws or boundaries. It’s everywhere,” he said, adding that it was this unconditional acceptance that attracted him to it.

Raveena talked about Shiva’s compassion for all living beings, especially animals. Referring to him as Pashupatinath, he said that this aspect made him value him even more. He pointed out that Nandi was always with him, that Kaalbhairav was depicted with dogs, and even the ancient Indus Valley seal of Pashupatinath showed him sitting in a yogic posture, surrounded by animals; it’s a symbol that Kaalbhairav finds extremely enduring.

He also revealed that his children’s names have spiritual connections with Lord Shiva. “Rasha’s real name in her kundli is Vishakha and Ranbir’s name includes Vardhan, which for me is related to Lord Shiva. Mahadev has always made me feel his presence – in happiness, laughter, struggles and the toughest moments,” he shared.

The actor said that he usually visits Kashi for Mahashivratri and he and his daughter Rasha have been there for the last two years. This year, he plans to celebrate at the Isha Foundation at Sadhguru’s ashram, which he describes as a vibrant celebration of music, dance and life.

Raveena also spoke emotionally about completing the 12th Jyotirlinga pilgrimage. Kashi Vishwanath started his journey on February 17, 2023, after losing his late father Ravi Tandon in 2022. He completed his pilgrimage on Mahashivratri 2024 by completing all 12 Jyotirlingas within a year, carrying a small portion of his ashes for immersion in the Ganges.

Describing it as the fulfillment of a deeply personal promise, Raveena said the journey was something she owed to her father and described it as a special and emotional experience for her entire family.
