Red Sox pitcher gets rocked, throws incredible tantrum, gets dealt immediate reality check by organization
In a season of absolute misery, the Boston Red Sox finally did something after an embarrassing loss on Thursday.
The organization demoted starting pitcher Brayan Bello after another terrible outing and a media postgame tantrum.
You might suck at your job. You can be a clown. But – and this is important – you can’t be bad at your job AND be a clown.
We’ll get to the post-game interaction in a minute, but first some quick context…
THE ORIOLS BEAT THE POOR RED SOX TO THE GROUND SO BAD THAT THEY RUN AWAY FROM HOME TO THROW FIREWORKS.

Bello has been Boston’s worst so far beginning pitcher this season. Things got so bad that interim manager Chad Kelly recently began using him as a “bulk” bowler, meaning the team would use an opener in the first inning or two and then insert Bello into the game for the rest of the game.
This really worked.
He was excellent in games where Bello couldn’t pitch in the first inning or two. In games where he actually should have started, he was literally incapable of not getting rattled. I am serious. He failed to give up more than one run in the first inning.
Confusing stuff.
Anyway, the Sox started Bello once again against Baltimore on Thursday, gave up five (!!!) runs in the first inning, immediately yelled at the media about it after the game, and was then sent to Worcester.
What a day!

Unbelievable. What a terrible season.
Look, I was ready to scold the Red Sox for jumping in and starting Bello again today. I couldn’t believe Kelly had the audacity to throw this kid back in there when he did so well in the “bulk” role on Thursday.
And I mean GOOD:
- In seven games as a traditional starter: 9.68 ERA, 10 HR, 18 BB, .370 batting average.
- In four matches collective man: 0.71 ERA, 0 HR, 3 BB, .215 batting average.
So it’s just night and day. Enigmatic.

So yeah, I was ready to tear him apart to start the Red Sox against the Orioles once again today… and then Bello had the audacity to say all that. HE After being shaken, I completely changed my tune.
Who does this guy think he is? The team is in the midst of an absolutely embarrassing season, you’re among the worst starting pitchers in baseball, and you have the guts to stand there and berate the media for asking about your role?
After that trip? What kind of world am I living in here?
I have a news flash for those who haven’t been following the Red Sox this year (lucky you!): Brayan Bello isn’t worth all that headache. The Red Sox are pretty terrible in every aspect, but starting pitching isn’t actually one of them.
That’s probably the only area they’re good at. more many starting pitchers.
If I were them, I’d not only leave Bello in Worcester for the rest of the season, but I’d try to move him out of Boston altogether before next month’s trade deadline. They don’t need it.

Frankly, no one needs a starting pitcher with an ERA in double digits. Nobody. Let me emphasize this once again…
Brayan Bello has the WORST ERA among qualified starters in Major League Baseball. He’s currently 2-6 with a 6.34 ERA. Teams are hitting .310 off him, which is the worst in the league.

And will he have the nerve to tell us “stop talking about the starting bullshit because no one talks about it when I pitch well as a starter”?
Dude… you haven’t been a good shot ALL SEASON. June! When you actually have to do your job and take the first shot, you STINK.
