Reliance JV Digital Connexion to invest Rs 98,000 crore to build 1 GW data centres in Andhra Pradesh

The AI-driven, purpose-built data centers will be spread across 400 acres in Visakhapatnam, the digital infrastructure company said in a statement.
“Digital Connexion…announced an investment of approximately US$11 billion over a five-year period by 2030 to build 1 Gigawatt state-of-the-art AI native, purpose-built data centers on 400 acres of land in Visakhapatnam, Andhra Pradesh,” the company said in its statement. he said.
This is the second major investment in the country after Google last month announced it would invest US$15 billion in Andhra Pradesh to build an AI hub, including data centres, in Visakhapatnam.
The statement stated that Digital Connexion signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Andhra Pradesh Economic Development Board for the investment.
“Digital Connexion data centers are specifically designed to support hyperscalers and seamless AI workloads that empower businesses with future-ready systems, rugged substations, redundant power feeds, and rack densities to power the next decade of innovation,” the statement said. The company already has a campus in Chennai and another campus is being built in Mumbai’s Chandivali area. Both are strategically positioned for low-latency, carrier-independent connectivity, the statement said.
