Rep Lauren boebert warns Iran war endangering GOP midterm chances

Rep. Lauren Boebert told CNN on Thursday that she opposes sending another $200 billion to fund the Iran war, warning that such efforts jeopardize Republicans’ chances in the midterm elections.
“I’m not going to vote for the war supplement. No. I’m ‘No’.” “I had already told the leadership, ‘No to combat reinforcements,'” Boebert told CNN’s Manu Raju.
“I’m so tired of spending money elsewhere. I’m tired of our hard-earned tax dollars being taken away from the industrial warfare complex. I have people who can’t afford to live in Colorado.”
“We need America First policies right now, and I’m not doing that.”

Over the past few months, there has been a growing infighting among President Donald Trump’s MAGA coalition over whether he is delivering on years of campaign promises.
Some podcasters who have praised or been friendly with Trump in the past, from comedian Andrew Schulz to Joe Rogan, cast the Iran war as a major departure from Trump’s rhetoric to end such foreign conflicts.
Now the GOP is trying to find enough support to continue funding the military operation in Iran.

Boebert told CNN that she would not support the Pentagon’s offer of $200 billion in additional funding, echoing a common sentiment that the military operation jeopardized Republicans’ chances in the midterm elections and that other initiatives were far more urgent.
“We need the SAVE America Act and guaranteed FISA. There are a lot of hard lines that I’m facing right now, and if we want to keep that majority, we’ve got to get our act together, and the path we’re on doesn’t look very promising,” he said.

When another reporter asked if he thought the Trump administration should get out of Iran, he replied as he walked away: “That’s up to the president.”
