Revanth Briefs SC Panel Chief on Sub-Categorisation, Touts Integrated Schools

Hyderabad: Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy on Monday said the Telangana government has implemented a number of initiatives aimed at socio-economic, educational and political empowerment of Scheduled Caste communities and appealed to the Center to extend necessary support for the development of SC communities.

The Prime Minister made these remarks in a meeting with Kishore Makwana, chairman of the National Commission for Scheduled Castes, here. He also briefed Makwana on the implementation of the SC community classification.

The Prime Minister highlighted the Young India Integrated Residential Schools in each Assembly constituency to provide quality residential education to the Scheduled Castes, Scheduled Tribes, Backward Classes, minorities and other castes and communities under one roof. He said that unlike the current system of separate boarding institutions for different social groups, integrated schools would bring together students from all communities, thus eliminating caste-based discrimination among children.

The Chief Minister also outlined the state government’s plans to strengthen the general education system through the establishment of Telangana Public Schools to provide education from Kindergarten to Class 12. He said schools will provide breakfast, lunch and transportation to students. The government has planned to increase the number of Telangana Public Schools in the Core Urban Region (CURE) as part of efforts to improve access to quality education.
