Rs.63,000 Cr Spent on Pensions in 22 Months: Naidu

Hyderabad: The Andhra Pradesh government has spent Rs 63,000 crore to distribute pensions in the last 22 months, Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu said on Friday.
“We provide pension to 62.47 lakh people every month. We have spent more than Rs 63,000 Million on pensions in 22 months. We keep Rs 2,700 Million ready every month,” he said.
The NDA government is the only government in the country that spends Rs 33,000 billion annually, more than anywhere else. “We are not thinking of it as a burden but we are thinking of it as a responsibility,” he said while speaking during a meeting organized on the occasion of May Day.
Stating that the government has opened 263 Anna canteens across the State, he said the drivers, laborers, workers, and unorganized workers were utilizing them effectively.
“I salute all you workers working in scorching heat and dangerous conditions. Society is progressing and developing thanks to your efforts. There are 8.8 million unorganized workers working in small and large industries in our state,” he said.
Naidu also stated that the government has spent Rs.615 crore for the welfare of all of them. “We are setting up workers’ addas at 15 locations across the state. These are adjusted so that workers do not face difficulties, be it in rain or extreme heat.
“We are building shelters with good facilities in these labor addas. From the adda, workers can be sent to places where they are needed. We provide financial assistance of Rs 15,000 per year to auto drivers. No individual in the state should face hardship,” he added.
