Revealed: The Jewish man caught up in two antisemitic attacks in the space of nine days

A Jew who witnessed yesterday’s terror attack in north London has been caught up in two anti-Semitic attacks in just nine days.

Property inspector Moshe was targeted in an unprovoked incident in Slough on April 23, when a stranger shouted abuse at him and called him a “dirty son-of-a-bitch Jew”.

And on Wednesday morning he was in Golders Green to see the horrific consequences of the broad daylight stabbing of two Jewish men in the latest act of terrorism to hit Britain.

Moshe, 30, told the Daily Mail: ‘Again. And again. And again. We always talk, no action.

‘British Jews must face the fact that we are not safe here. This hatred has been left unchecked for so long that it is ingrained in our society, it is everywhere, and it is too late.

‘Fortunately, we Jews can find safe haven in Israel, but where do the other 69 million Britons go?’

It sounds like this A knifeman stabbed an elderly Jewish man at a bus stop in Highfield Avenue, Golders Green, at around 11.15am, before chasing him for a second down the street.

It was stated that two Jewish men, aged 76 and 34, were in stable condition in the hospital, and a 45-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of attempted murder.

In the video obtained by the Daily Mail, the suspect of yesterday’s terrorist attack can be seen running towards a man waiting at a bus stop and stabbing him wildly.

The suspect also tried to stab police officers before being tasered and taken into custody. He is currently under police custody.

The Met Police said on Wednesday night that the suspect was a Somali-born British national. Assistant Commissioner Laurence Taylor, head of the counter-terrorism police, had previously officially described the stabbings as a terrorist attack.

According to police, the suspect has a history of ‘serious violence’ and mental health issues.

Moshe spoke to the Daily Mail after witnessing the incident, just nine days after he himself was subjected to a disgusting anti-Semitic attack.

The property surveyor was working in Slough when stranger Shafiq Rahman approached him on a bicycle last Monday.

The 48-year-old, from Lismore Park, Slough, subjected her to a barrage of abuse and racial slurs and accused her of being a ‘baby killer’.

In the videotaped attack, Rahman was seen threatening Moshe with physical violence, saying “I will break your jaw” and then accusing him of “killing children in Palestine”.

The man said once again, ‘Are you killing children in Palestine, you son of a bitch?’ He explained what he said. before hitting him.

Rahman was arrested by police and pleaded guilty at Reading Magistrates’ Court last week to racially aggravated common assault, inciting fear or verbal violence and criminal damage.

District Judge Devinder Sanhu described the attack as a ‘pure hate crime’.

An armed police officer was at the scene following the stabbing, which occurred around 11.15am.

Prosecutor Anushka A said: ‘I believe the victim was wearing a kippah and I believe that is why he was targeted in this attack.’

In a victim impact statement read to the court, Moshe said: ‘This incident changed my perspective on what it is to be publicly Jewish.’

Moshe, a member of the ultra-Orthodox community living in North London, arrived at the scene after two Jewish men were stabbed.

They are named locally as 34-year-old Shloime Rand and 76-year-old Moshe Shine.

Video obtained by the Daily Mail shows the suspect running towards a man waiting at a bus stop and stabbing him wildly before two bystander heroes rush to help.

In a separate image, a crouching figure follows a man wearing ultra-Orthodox clothing along a street near a synagogue. He then ambushes another Jewish man walking in the other direction.

The suspect is then confronted by two police officers, with one of them shooting him with a stun gun, then kicking him in the head while the officers repeatedly yell at him to “drop the knife.”

People around said that heart massage was given to the attacker “after he had a heart attack with a Taser shock.”

Prime Minister Sir Keir Starmer described the stabbings as ‘deeply worrying’ and said his Government was ‘absolutely clear about our determination to tackle these crimes, the likes of which we have seen so frequently in recent times’.

But the Israeli foreign ministry said Sir Keir’s statements were ‘no substitute for confronting the roots of antisemitism’ and ‘the UK Government can no longer claim it is under control’.

Speaking to the press in the afternoon, Met Commissioner Sir Mark Rowley said the suspect had a history of serious violence and mental health problems.

He told reporters that the two officers who confronted the 45-year-old, tasered him and arrested him believed he had a bomb on him.

Heroic bystanders cornered the attacker in a vehicle, while volunteers from Shomrim, which carries out civilian security patrols in Jewish communities, arrived on the scene ‘within a minute and a half’.

Sir Mark warned of a rise in anti-Semitic violence fueled from abroad, adding: ‘Let me be clear, we have seen an increase in racist and anti-Semitic hate crimes, and while I cannot comment on my investigations, we do know that some people have been encouraged, persuaded or paid to carry out violent acts on behalf of foreign organizations and enemy states.’

Praising his officers for confronting the suspect they thought was carrying explosives, he continued: ‘My first thoughts are about two British Jews who were attacked while going about their daily lives, which they should have been able to do freely and safely in their local community.

‘I would also like to express my gratitude to my officers who arrived at the scene within minutes and whose actions undoubtedly prevented further injuries and saved lives. I also want to recognize the incredible volunteer first responders in the community, including Shomrim.’

But he was put in a difficult position during the press conference as the Met and the Government face criticism over a series of anti-Semitic incidents in North London in recent weeks.

The attack took place just minutes away from where four ambulances belonging to a Jewish charity were set on fire last month.

Police are also investigating an arson attack on a nearby memorial wall.

Other incidents included arson attacks on synagogues and a building formerly used by a Jewish charity.

Interior Minister Shabana Mahmood said she would ‘strain every nerve’ to keep Jewish people safe following the ‘horrible’ incident.

But Conservative leader Kemi Badenoch said rising anti-Semitism must now be treated as a ‘national emergency’.

He said: ‘Jews in our country are under constant attack. This is no longer a growing model.

‘There is an epidemic of violence against the Jewish people.

‘This is now a national emergency and must be treated as such by the Government and public authorities.’

The Campaign Against Antisemitism has announced a ‘national emergency’ rally will be held outside Downing Street on Thursday evening in response to Wednesday’s attack.

A spokesman said: ‘This is a National Emergency. We need to abandon political platitudes. Dear Prime Minister, what is your plan?

‘Six months ago we stood outside Downing Street following the deadly terrorist attack on Heaton Park Synagogue. Things got worse. More Jews attacked. Synagogues burned. More lives are at risk. What precautions is the government taking?

‘We are demonstrating outside Downing Street on Thursday evening to ask the Prime Minister a simple question: ‘What is the plan?’ We need to take this to the Prime Minister’s door. He’s had plenty of time. What will he actually do?’
