Anti-Herzog protests turn violent; Sussan Ley’s leadership expected to be challenged within days
Wentworth MP Allegra Harcama said the images and videos emerging from last night’s pro-Palestinian protest in Sydney will “disturb” many Australians.
“I think a lot of Australians, including Bondi, will be really disturbed by this footage,” he said. Today this morning.
Protesters gathered in major cities across the country against Israeli President Isaac Herzog’s visit to Australia.
The invitation was extended to Herzog after the terrorist attack on the Hanukkah festival held at Bondi Beach in December, which killed 15 people. Bondi is among Spending’s voters.
“I’ve spent a lot of time in Bondi over the last few weeks and people tell me the community there is pulling together and looking out for each other… that’s the best of this country and we need to hold on to that,” Spending said.
