Russell Brand says he couldn’t have sexually assaulted a film worker on set of flop Arthur… because he was ‘too in love’ with Katy Perry to even look at another woman

Russell Brand claims he could not have sexually assaulted a film employee as he claims; because he was too in love with his ex-wife Katy Perry to look at another woman.

In his sworn statement, the actor and comedian said he was “too exhausted” about his feelings for the pop singer, whose tumultuous marriage lasted 14 months, for the allegations against him to be true.

In addition to being prosecuted through the criminal courts in the United Kingdom for multiple allegations, including four rapes, Brand is also being sued in the US civil courts for alleged sexual assault during the filming of the comedy film Arthur.

The controversial conspiracy YouTuber has begun moving his multi-million pound fortune after shutting down his long-running personal business, the Daily Mail has learned.

With Brand, 50, facing potential millions of dollars in damages if he loses the Arthur case, which could spur other civil suits, it is believed to be a pre-emptive move to prevent his assets being used for possible payouts.

Appearing in person for the first time in this case this week, born-again Christian Brand swore on a Bible before testifying.

He later said he was ‘overwhelmed’ by his love for Miss Perry at the time of the alleged Arthur attack (2011) and that this meant he would never cheat on her.

The US case was brought by an unnamed woman who claimed Mr Brand attacked her in the bathroom while filming the film, a remake of Dudley Moore’s hit 1981 comedy of the same name.

In the lawsuit filed in New York Supreme Court, the woman alleges that Mr. Brand exposed himself to her in front of the cast and crew.

Later that day, Mr Brand allegedly followed the woman, identified only as ‘Jane Doe’, into the bathroom and assaulted her while a member of staff was guarding the door from the outside.

In a deposition in which a defendant was questioned under oath by lawyers, Mr. Brand was asked about his marriage to 41-year-old Miss Perry.

She said: ‘I felt truly in love, and I fell in love with a person who I felt was truly so; I felt changed and overwhelmed’.

Asked if he and Ms. Perry were in a monogamous relationship at the time, Mr. Brand said, “Yes.”

The alleged victim’s lawyer, Nathan Werksman, asked: ‘Your statement that you were faithful to Katy Perry throughout your marriage?’

“Yes,” said Mr. Brand.

Ms. Perry never revealed the full truth about her marriage to Mr. Brand; That marriage ended badly when Brand broke it off by texting.

He said he ‘kept the real truth locked away’ and ‘walked away’ from their relationship.

In the lawsuit filed in a New York court, the unnamed woman claimed that Brand ‘appeared drunk’, ‘smelt of alcohol’ and was carrying a bottle of vodka on the set of Arthur.

His lawyers claimed that although he had previously played a drunk character, he had not actually used alcohol or drugs for eight years and claimed that the plaintiff “could not distinguish acting from reality.”

While waiting to film a scene at Manhattan restaurant Le Cirque, Mr Brand allegedly ‘openly and conspicuously pulled his erect penis out of his trousers’.

During the evidence Mr Brand was asked whether he referred to the penis as ‘willy’.

Brand said he did this but claimed it was ‘harmless’ and that it was ‘normal to call it that in England’.

Brand denied the woman’s allegations, adding that this would be ‘a very, very serious sin indeed’ and continued: ‘Non-consensual sex is a crime against humanity and against God.’

Meanwhile, the Mail has learned that Brand has shut down the company, which had previously funneled millions in earnings.

Details of the move emerged in the accounts of Pablo Diablo’s Legitimate Business Firm Limited, which immediately saw its assets fall by £11 million.

The move increases speculation that Brand is bracing for the financial impact of the various lawsuits filed against him.

Brand moved to close its UK-registered businesses on New Year’s Eve, documents have just been published.

The report said: ‘On 31 December 2025 the manager began plans to liquidate the company’.

The company has long been used to manage fees from Brand’s output, live performances and merchandise sales on platforms like Rumble.

Figures for Pablo Diablo’s Legitimate Business Firm Limited show that it had total assets of almost £15.3 million in 2024, with this falling to just under £4 million in just 12 months to the end of 2025.

Taking other costs into account, the company’s reserves were £3.3 million, compared to £12 million the previous year.

The accounts of Pablo Diablo’s Legitimate Business Firm Limited also show that Brand is not subject to any corporation tax; This means that the company does not have any taxable profits until the end of 2025.

Just published accounts show Brand has repaid a £7.439 million loan from the company.

The company’s staff was reduced from 11 to five, including Brand, who was the sole manager.

The 50-year-old comedian, actor and TV presenter is due to stand trial in October on three allegations of rape, three sexual assaults and one indecent assault; six women alleged crimes from 1999 to 2009.

The trial at Southwark Crown Court is expected to last two months and Brand denies all charges dating from 1999 to 2009.

In April, Brand admitted to having ‘abusive’ consensual sex with a 16-year-old girl at the height of her fame.

Speaking to interviewer Piers Morgan, Brand said that when he had sex with the girl in the early 2000s it was consensual but it was also “morally and spiritually wrong”.

Another clip from the interview went viral when Mr. Morgan asked Mr. Brand, a born-again Christian, to find a passage from the Bible that he had read at one of his court hearings in the United Kingdom.

Mr Brand spent an increasingly uncomfortable 90 seconds searching for the book before admitting he couldn’t find it.

Speaking about his past actions on US journalist Megyn Kelly’s YouTube show, Brand previously described himself as ‘selfish’ and ‘an abuser of women’.

She said: ‘I slept with a 16-year-old when I was 30. I was a very different person when I was 30. ‘I was much younger and an immature 30-year-old.’

The Daily Mail contacted lawyers for Brand and Jane Doe, as well as representatives for Ms. Perry, who is currently dating former Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau.
