Ryan Reynolds breaks silence over his bombshell unsealed texts in Blake Lively legal war: ‘What husband wouldn’t support his wife?’

Ryan Reynolds is defending the fiery messages he sent while defending wife Blake Lively in her legal battle with Justin Baldoni.

The messages, in which Reynolds, 49, called Baldoni a ‘stupid-idiot’ and a ‘predatory cheater’, were recently revealed as part of Lively’s (38) ongoing lawsuit against the It Ends With Us director, 42.

‘Yes, Ryan was involved; What husband wouldn’t support his wife and the mother of his children?’ The actor’s representative said in a statement: Disc News‘Is Blake Really UnHirable? and Can Ryan Escape the Explosion Radius?’ As part of the report of the publication titled.

“He saw his wife struggle every day to confront sexual harassment in a private and respectful way, but face retaliation for doing so,” the spokesperson added.

‘Actually, Ryan thinks you’re not angry enough. He passionately believes in and will defend the fundamental right of himself, his wife, and others to a safe workplace free of harassment and retaliation. Then, now and always.”

A spokesman for Baldoni provided the Daily Mail with a statement from his lawyer, Bryan Freedman, which said: ‘The evidence we have stated from the outset, reflected in our clients’ actions and Sony’s messages discussing Ms Lively’s behavior, does not support the allegations from a legal standpoint.’

‘A simple reading of the newly released message exchanges makes the truth abundantly clear. We are confident in the legal process and the clearing of the names of all Justin Baldoni parties.’

The Daily Mail has reached out to reps for Reynolds and Lively for comment.

Meanwhile, a source told Puck News that Reynolds’ comments about agent Warren Zavala along with executive producer Todd Black and Sony executive Ange Giannetti — whom Reynolds called “ineffective old people with no ideas or thoughtful communication skills” — made him seem “childish and petulant.”

The insider added that Reynolds is “very protective of his image” after being confronted by Baldoni in 2023, who cried about “fat-shaming” his wife. ‘It’s his worst nightmare for this thing to be exposed.’

In December 2024, Lively named Baldoni in a lawsuit accusing him of sexual harassment, retaliatory conduct, and intentional infliction of emotional distress.

The actress alleged that Baldoni sexually harassed her in various ways, including body shaming her, and organized a smear campaign to tarnish her reputation.

Baldoni, who previously accused Lively and Reynolds of using their co-star power to get their hands on his film, denied the allegations.

Lively is seeking more than $160 million in damages, with a hearing to be held in New York in May 2026. Baldoni’s countersuit, alleging defamation and extortion against Lively and Reynolds, who have been married since 2012 and have four children, has since been dismissed by the judge.

It Ends with Us grossed $148 million at the domestic box office and $350 million worldwide; but the goodwill the film earned has since been overshadowed by its stars’ claims.

In a series of recently revealed text messages about the case, Reynolds attacked the ‘idiot-idiot’ Baldoni while claiming his wife was responsible for the film’s box office success.

In a text exchange with a WME executive in July 2024, Reynolds allegedly referred to Baldoni as a “full-blooded, predatory hustler” and an “inexplicably toxic asshole.”

He allegedly added to this text: ‘I would take Blake’s reputation to court any day of the week. He has worked with dozens of volatile and abusive people. In his (and my) experience, no one has ever reached the heavenly heights of infamy like Justin Baldoni.’

Reynolds writes, “Her complete lack of not only remorse but also self-preservation is a character study in malignant, lazy-covered stupidity and darkness.”

And in a chat with Zavala on August 9, 2024 – around the same time as It Ends with Us was a smashing box office hit – the Deadpool star said of Lively: ‘She WANTED to make this weekend a reality.’

‘Baldoni and the other idiot-stupid juice buckets should accept the speculation and make the gossip their own,’ Reynolds said. ‘They must be jumping in front of him in the most guttural, most unqualified way. Now.’

In court documents regarding the case between Lively and Baldoni reviewed by the Daily Mail, Reynolds complained about the lack of public outcry from the actor-director and his friends after initial reports of tensions on the film’s set began to circulate.

In this exchange, Reynolds speculated on strategies to protect his wife from bad publicity, stating that she should not be subjected to glamorous narratives such as “controlling bitch”, amid early reports of disagreements during production.

Reynolds said Baldoni and his team ‘must protect’ Lively, adding: ‘They can and should accept the consequences of their actions and address those behaviors before they turn to countless and deliberately rude ones.’

‘They created a huge mess. Under NO CIRCUMSTANCE should Blake be asked to clear up this sloppy, clichéd storm.’

Reynolds said he was “very disappointed because this was a moment that Blake should have celebrated” and “made this incredible win happen.”

‘He made this a win for Sony and, by proxy, Wayfarer.’

Reynolds said Lively ‘refused to give up on the film’, saying she ‘couldn’t sleep’ and ‘missed countless moments as she sat in editing rooms with her kids scrapping and framing dailies, capturing every inch of quality’.

The actor said that his wife “put together the recipe for success even though she worked with materials that even she could not choose.”

‘All this while designing a top-notch marketing and promotional plan for a film that punches so far above its weight that I’ve even lost the descriptors that would describe what’s going on.’

Reynolds said Baldoni had tensions with others involved in the production of the film.

“Every member of the cast and key crew member (including Colleen) will not be in the same room with this man,” Reynolds wrote. ‘They all unfollowed him on social media at some point in the last six months.

‘No person ever said Justin’s name out loud in any interview.’

Reynolds recently came under fire from fans for her ’embarrassing’ long email to It Ends With Us writer Colleen Hoover; This e-mail was also among the newly opened exhibits in the case.

He apparently mocked Baldoni, writing: ‘I hear you have a stomach ache and are stuck in New York. I can’t think of anything worse. Even though your body is being cleansed of any traces of Baldoni.’

‘I’d rather vomit in a labor camp than take up Performative Feminism while practicing self-improvement slogans in the mirror,’ she added.

Fans were confused by Reynolds’ close involvement with the film and the lengthy email; many called it ’embarrassing’ and ‘egotistical’.

“This is a case about two of the most powerful stars in the world using their enormous power to steal a movie from the director and production studio,” Baldoni’s lawyers previously said.
