Sadiq Khan reignites Donald Trump feud days after Labour battered in London elections | Politics | News

London mayor claims he is ‘living rent-free’ Donald Trump’s head as he responds to criticism from the US leader. Sir Sadiq Khan added that it was “ridiculous” that it had attracted so much attention from the US president.

The Mayor of London told the Big Issue magazine that London was the “antithesis” of everything Mr Trump believed in. He said: “It’s ridiculous that President Trump is obsessed with me. It’s like I’ve been living inside this man’s head rent-free for 10 years. Objectively speaking, President Trump is a nativist. He’s a protectionist and one-sided. He believes in mono-ethnicity. He believes in the superiority of his religion, Christianity, and of Americans.”

Sir Sadiq faces regular criticism from Trump; The US President frequently criticizes his record as mayor and launches a number of personal attacks against him.

Last year, the US President labeled Khan a “disgusting human being” who had done a “terrible job” when he met Sir Keir Starmer during his visit to the UK.

The US President said he was “not a fan” of London’s Labor Mayor when asked if he would visit the British capital.

Speaking to reporters at the Turnberry golf resort in South Ayrshire, Mr Trump said: “I’m not a fan of your mayor.

“I think he’s done a very poor job, the Mayor of London… he’s a disgusting person.”

The Prime Minister intervened and said, “Actually, he is my friend.”

Mr Trump continued: “I think he did a terrible job. But I would definitely visit London.”

He had previously directed his anger at Khan, branding him a “total loser” and challenging him to an IQ test.

Addressing the slew of criticism sent across the Atlantic, Khan added: “Look at London. It’s progressive, liberal, diverse, multicultural and the greatest city in the world. So we’re the antithesis of everything he believes in.”

“So I can understand why he would want to spread disinformation about this dystopian version of London because Londoners elected this man, a Muslim of Pakistani origin.”

The mayor said the president’s rhetoric was dangerous, adding: “The problem is that he has fallen into the mainstream of views that should be around.”
