SCCL Assures Coal Supply to Telangana

Singareni Collieries Company Limited (SCCL) has assured Telangana that it has supplied sufficient coal to all thermal power plants and will prioritize the state’s electricity needs as the demand for electricity increases following the decline in rainfall in the current El Niño conditions.

In the coordination meeting held through video conferencing at Singari Bhavan, SCCL CMD Dr. Buddha Prakash Jyoti directed the authorities to accelerate coal movement to ensure uninterrupted power generation. He said special officers would be appointed to monitor continuous coal transport and asked for prioritization of deliveries to state thermal plants.

GENCO CMD Dr. co-chaired the meeting. Harish evaluated current demand, coal production and transportation issues. SCCL marketing officials informed that the company currently supplies 72 per cent of coal consumed by GENCO thermal stations, including Ramagundam NTPC and Singareni plants.

Dr Jyoti called for closer coordination between SCCL and GENCO to maintain adequate stock and reallocate coal allocated to other states if necessary. He emphasized the need to maintain production levels, maintain coal quality and take preventive measures to avoid monsoon disruptions.

Dr Harish detailed the coal stock positions at GENCO stations and asked senior officials to intervene immediately to resolve the transportation bottlenecks.

SCCL directors ELV Suryanarayana, K. Venkateswara, M. Tirumala Rao, ED (Coal Movement) B. Venkanna, GM (Coordination and Marketing) T. Srinivas and GENCO directors Nagya, Rajasekhar and CEOs Bichchanna, Lakshmayya and Sriprakash attended the meeting.
