Sea route near Oman is expanding to facilitate more traffic through Strait of Hormuz, US Navy says

DUBAI: United Arab Emirates: A route through the Strait of Hormuz near the coast of Oman has been widened to allow for both inbound and outbound traffic, a maritime agency overseen by the US Navy said on Saturday.
The Joint Maritime Information Center’s announcement is another warning to Iran that the United States is trying to reopen the strait.
Iran insisted that ships must comply with the orders and warned that it would start charging fees for passage through the strait, through which a fifth of oil and natural gas once passed.
The United States and Gulf Arab countries rejected Iran’s demands. Although the Strait is the territorial waters of Iran and Oman, it is recognized worldwide as an international waterway.
