Search for baby after bodies of mother, toddler found off coast of Port Macdonnell

A baby has gone missing off the coast of South Australia after the bodies of a mother and her young child were pulled from the ocean.

Emergency services rushed to the state’s southernmost seaside town of Port Macdonnell at around 11.15am on Monday after reports of a car with its engine running.

Police teams soon launched a search and found two bodies in the ocean.

They have been identified as a 36-year-old woman and her toddler from Compton, near Mount Gambier.

The teams are looking for the missing baby.

“Police have serious concerns about the child’s safety,” a South Australian Police spokesman said.

Major Crime detectives and forensic experts attend the scene.

Police are urging anyone who may have seen the white Isuzu MUX, registration S592BJR, to contact Crime Stoppers.
