Sehwag Hails Suryakumar Yadav’s Knock as One of His Best

Speaking on JioHotstar’s ‘Haier Match Center Live’, Indian pacer Mohammed Siraj spoke about the surface at the Wankhede Stadium and the importance of early wickets:

“On this wicket, the Test match length was very important because it was not easy to hit a six from that length. I know it is the T20 format, but length was important. If we were hit from that distance we were good, so we had to stick to that plan and we got results whether it was a six or a wicket. Initially I went for swing with the first two balls but I couldn’t, so I thought I should stick to my strength because the swing seam gave me a lot The wicket was a bit two paced and the new ball was very important. Speaking on JioHotstar’s ‘Haier Match Center Live’, JioStar expert Irfan Pathan detailed Siraj’s magic in Powerplay:

“Mohammed Siraj comes into his own when Bumrah is not with him. He does some magical things. It was a great performance for him. He opened up and grabbed the opportunity. He joined the team just the day before and put in a performance like that. At the half-way mark, India were under pressure; there was no doubt about that, because it wasn’t 200 points, it was around 160. And if USA had got off to a good start, India would have been in trouble. So Siraj and Arshdeep’s spells in the Powerplay were crucial and helped India win this game.” That was the difference.”

When Captain Suryakumar Yadav knocked on the door after relieving the pressure:

“Suryakumar Yadav mentioned that he acted a little smarter while talking as Captain. He knew that if he acted aggressively in the beginning, he could lose wickets and get into trouble. He was for six runs in his first 12 balls, which doesn’t happen with Suryakumar Yadav. At the same time, once he was set, he played his favorite shots and fielded as well.
