Following the Indore water pollution incident, the Noida Authority constituted a special technical committee to monitor drinking water quality and detect leaks. The move aims to prevent similar incidents, as well as reviewing road infrastructure, cleanliness and important civic projects.
Following the recent water pollution incident in Indore, the Noida Administration has moved to strengthen safety measures around the city’s drinking water supply. On Friday, officials announced the formation of a special technical committee tasked with inspecting water infrastructure, identifying vulnerabilities and ensuring water quality standards are met across Noida.
The decision comes five days after the Indore incident raised nationwide concerns about urban water security and the need for proactive monitoring.
High-Level Review Meeting Focuses on Public Welfare
Noida Authority Chief Executive Officer Lokesh M chaired a comprehensive review meeting on Friday, stressing that issues related to public welfare and basic infrastructure need to be addressed on priority. He made it clear that any disruption affecting the health or safety of residents would lead to strict measures being taken.
According to officials, the CEO directed the departments to intensify oversight and increase accountability, especially in sectors that directly affect daily life, such as water supply, roads, sanitation and urban amenities.
Water Department Committee Will Test Quality and Detect Leaks
A high-level technical committee was formed within the water department to carry out inspections throughout the city. The panel will carry out systematic checks to detect possible pipeline leaks, collect water samples and assess overall quality to prevent contamination risks.
The committee was instructed to present its findings as soon as possible and take prompt corrective action where deficiencies were identified. Officials said the aim is to prevent any incident like Indore by detecting problems before they escalate.
In addition, the CEO instructed the water department to complete the 80 cusec Ganga water supply project by the end of January; This move is expected to increase water availability and reduce dependence on legacy supply systems.
Separate Panel to Address Road and Sanitation Issues
Beyond water security, Lokesh M also announced the formation of a two-member committee to examine road infrastructure issues in Noida. The panel, comprising Additional CEO Vandana Tripathi and Officer on Special Duty Mahendra Prasad, has been asked to submit a detailed report within 15 days.
The CEO also instructed authorities to accelerate the development and rejuvenation of ponds in the city, underlining their importance for groundwater recharge and urban ecology. He also expressed dissatisfaction with the pace and quality of work in the health and sanitation department, warning staff against substandard performance.
Press for Accountability and Timely Action
Officials said the series of measures reflected the authority’s intention to strengthen civil systems and ensure better service delivery. With multiple committees now in place, the Noida Authority aims to proactively address infrastructure gaps and restore public confidence in essential services.
