Seven-time NBA champion Robert Horry wants the World Cup to be the greatest unifier of the world.
Horry, 55, said he wanted the world’s biggest football event to bring us together.
“I just want to see all the different countries come together and have fun and enjoy what’s going on. You know, think about it. You’re from outside the country. We know what’s going on in this country. Just enjoy the moment and let sports bring us together and have a great time,” Horry said in a recent interview with Fox News Digital.

The World Cup will be held in 16 cities, co-hosted by Mexico, the USA and Canada. Since 78 of the 104 matches, including the final, will be played in America, the majority of the matches will be hosted by the USA.
Mexico and Canada are hosting 13 matches each. Mexico started the 2026 World Cup by defeating South Africa 2-0 on Thursday.
Canada’s first game is against Bosnia and Herzegovina in Toronto on Friday at 3pm ET.

Team USA’s first game will be played against Paraguay in Inglewood, California, on Friday at 9pm ET. U.S. captain Tim Ream told Fox News Digital in a recent interview that the team’s mentality is to win everything.
48 countries are competing in the tournament, with Argentina looking to defend its victory in 2022 by beating France in a thrilling final.
Horry played in the NBA for 16 seasons. He started his career with the Houston Rockets, spending four and a half seasons with them and being a key part of the championship-winning teams in the 1993-94 and 1994-95 seasons. The Alabama native was later traded to the Phoenix Suns, where he spent half a season before signing with the Los Angeles Lakers.

Horry was a key contributor to the Lakers’ three-peat from 1999-2001, winning the third, fourth and fifth NBA championships of his career. After seven seasons with the Lakers, Horry joined the Spurs, where he won two more championships in 2004-05 and 2006-07.
Horry averaged 7 points, 4.8 rebounds and 2.1 assists per game in 16 seasons.
