Seventh man charged after alleged kidnapping spree

A seventh person has also been charged following investigations into a series of kidnappings that police say are linked to organized crime.

Emergency services were called to Greenacre in Sydney’s south-west at around 8.30pm on 17 February 2023 following concerns about his medical condition.

Police teams treated a 30-year-old man, who was injured in his hands, face and feet, by medical teams at the scene.

Police said the man was taken to the Royal Prince Alfred Hospital where he remains in a critical condition and requires ongoing medical treatment.

Police allege that the man was kidnapped and attacked by an unidentified group of men the previous day.

This incident was allegedly linked to two other kidnappings that occurred between 14 and 16 February 2023.

Police will allege all three victims were targeted as part of an ongoing drug dispute involving an organized crime network.

The investigation is being carried out by the State Crime Command’s Robbery and Serious Crime Unit, attached to the Merrilee Strike Force.

As part of ongoing investigations, police executed a crime scene investigation at a property in the Southern Highlands on March 27, 2026.

Police allege the property was used as a stronghold by those involved.

Shortly after 10am on Friday, strike force detectives arrested a man at Horsley Park in Sydney’s west.

He was taken to Cabramatta Police Station and charged with taking or detaining with intent to ransom causing actual bodily harm and wounding with intent or causing grievous bodily harm.

He was refused bail to appear at Parramatta Bail Division Local Court on Saturday.
