Seventy police personnel felicitated for successful anti-terror operation in Jammu & Kashmir’s Kathua

“Jammu and Kashmir Police on Tuesday, May 12, 2026, felicitated 70 personnel for their role in the successful 17-day anti-terrorism operation conducted in Kathua district earlier this year,” officials said.

A recognition ceremony was held at district police lines in Kathua on Tuesday, May 12, 2026, to honor those involved in the operation that started between January 7 and 23 this year in the Padetar area of ​​Billawar mountain belt in Kathua district.

“During the operation, security forces neutralized the Jaish-e-Mohammad (JeM) terrorist identified as Usman after an extensive cordon and search operation in the difficult terrain of Padetar,” a police spokesman said.

He said 70 personnel of Kathua police and Special Operations Group (SOG) were honored with cash awards and certificates of appreciation for their contribution in intelligence gathering, area dominance and execution of the operation.

Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP), Kathua, Mohita Sharma, presided over the function and appreciated the bravery, professionalism and dedication displayed by the personnel during the operation.

Addressing the meeting, the SSP said that the successful operation reflects the Kathua Police’s unwavering determination to maintain peace and thwart the plans of terrorist organisations.

He said such operations were successful due to flawless coordination, timely intelligence inputs and courage of the forces on the ground.
