Seyyed Abbas Araghchi says war with US shows “regional security cannot be based on eliminating or ignoring Iran”

Tehran: Iranian Foreign Minister Seyyed Abbas Araghchi said on Sunday that the latest conflict involving the United States showed that “regional security cannot rely on eliminating or ignoring Iran” and emphasized that sustainable peace and stability in the Middle East requires cooperation among all countries in the region.

Speaking at the second session of meetings with activists from popular organizations in Iran, Araghchi said that the recent war has reshaped regional perceptions about Iran’s role and influence.

According to a statement shared on Telegram, Araghchi said, “The experience of the recent war has shown that regional security cannot be based on eliminating or ignoring Iran. The countries of the region have gradually realized that sustainable security, economic development and regional stability are possible only with cooperation, understanding and consideration of the common interests of all countries in the region, including the Islamic Republic of Iran.” he said.

While commemorating those who died in the war imposed on the Iranian nation, especially those who died in the recent conflict, Iran’s Foreign Minister asserted that the country’s strength goes beyond its military capabilities and is rooted in national unity and popular support.

He stated that in addition to tactical successes against the US and Israeli forces, Iran has also achieved strategic gains that will affect regional and international dynamics.

“It was not only military might, but also national unity, the determination of the nation, and the conscious presence of the people on the stage that showed the true image of Iran’s power to the world, an entity that is today considered the main support of Iran’s authority in diplomacy.” he said.
Touching on international perceptions towards Iran, Araghchi noted that the latest conflict undermined narratives that portrayed the country as weak and isolated, and that the conflict “completely shattered” perceptions. “For years, attempts have been made to create a weak, isolated and defenseless image of Iran in the world public opinion. However, recent events have completely destroyed this image and revealed the reality of the power of the Islamic Republic of Iran.”

The Foreign Minister also claimed that the aim of Iran’s enemies is to weaken the resolve of the Iranian people and destabilize the country’s institutions.

“The main aim of the war planners was to break the will of the Iranian nation and create instability in the structure of the country; this goal was foiled by the presence of the people on the stage and the unprecedented display of national unity,” he said.

Emphasizing the importance of public support, Araghchi said that national harmony strengthens Iran’s position on the global stage and increases its diplomatic influence.

He also called for a new regional security architecture based on collective participation and common interests.

“The new security structure of the region requires the participation of all countries in the region and a vision based on collective cooperation, and the Islamic Republic of Iran has always emphasized this approach,” Araghchi said. he said.

Araghchi’s comments come as diplomatic efforts aimed at reducing tensions between Iran and the United States are gaining momentum and hopes are rising for a potential deal that could contribute to broader regional stability.
